Can you warm up roast beef sandwiches?
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Wrap the roast beef deli slices in foil. Using two foil packs will heat the meat up quickest.
Are roast beef sandwiches hot or cold?
Roast beef sandwiches may be served hot or cold, and are sometimes served open faced.
Do you have to brown a roast before putting it in the crockpot?
You can cook a roast in a crockpot without browning it, but the meat is more flavorful and appealing if sear it first. The sugars and fats caramelize on the surface of the meat and impart a richer flavor when the roast is finished cooking.
How do you heat up roast beef lunch meat?
Preheat your oven to 400 F.
- Lay a sheet of aluminum foil flat on the counter. Place your deli roast beef in the center of the foil and fold up all four sides to completely enclose the beef.
- Bake the roast beef for 10 to 15 minutes.
- Open the foil and fold the roast beef in half to make a thicker layer.
How do you reheat beef in slow cooker?
The recommended method for reheating is to simmer the stew on the stovetop as this brings out the flavors the best. However, it is a close second place to microwave the stew as well. Using the crockpot is a convenient option, but your stew is more likely to burn or lose flavor.
What comes on a classic roast beef sandwich?
Top one slice, dressing side up, with beef, then cheese, followed by tomato and lettuce.
What cheese goes best with a roast beef sandwich?
Some popular sliced cheese choices for roast beef sandwiches are Provolone, Swiss, Cheddar, Havarti, Muenster, or Pepper Jack.
What cut of beef is used for roast beef sandwiches?
A top loin roast is ideal. It’s got plenty of brawny flavor, and all of the fat is on the surface, which you can easily trim off after the meat is cooked. Here, the beef is roasted low and slow to ensure rare, juicy meat. This said, if you want a more economical cut, use bottom, top or eye round here instead.
Which roast is best for slow cooker?
There are many different cuts that can be used for crockpot roast from bottom round, to rump roast, to shoulder roast to chuck roast, but for the best crockpot pot roast, use the boneless chuck roast.
Why do you put flour on a roast?
Aside from its thickening power, flouring meat, especially with seasoned flour, can provide both a flavorful crust and insulate the meat from the high heat in the pan. Since flour contains both proteins and sugar, the browning is the result of Maillard reactions, just like when you brown meat.
What happens if you don’t brown meat before slow cooking?
Ground meat should always be browned and drained before going into the slow cooker. Otherwise, it may clump and add grease to the dish.
Is deli roast beef already cooked?
Now, the fortunate factor about deli roast beef is that it’s usually served cold or quickly reheated so there is no concern of overcooking when serving. In fact, a good deli roast beef should be lean but still tender. This is where we have an opportunity to take a cheaper cut of meat and make it taste expensive.
Can you heat up deli meat?
If you’re among the at-risk group for listeriosis, don’t eat hot dogs, lunch meats, cold cuts, other deli meats (such as bologna), or fermented or dry sausages until you’ve heated them to an internal temperature of 165° F – or until steaming hot – just before serving.
Can you heat roast beef slices?
Oven method Preheat oven to 350 F. Make sure you wrap your roast beef in foil. Reheat in the oven for about 3-5 minutes.
Slow Cooker Hot Roast Beef Sandwiches
Hot Roast Beef Sandwiches, a beloved diner dish, may be easily recreated at home using a slow cooker. In a small town diner, this is the sort of meal that might be served on the menu. In fact, when I worked at Marie Callender’s many years ago, I would frequently purchase these Hot Roast Beef Sandwiches to go. These were frequently offered as a lunch special at Marie Callender’s. This meal is a slice of paradise on a platter; bread is placed on the dish, then meat and gravy are heaped on top, and mashed potatoes are always offered on the side.
I purchase it at Fred Meyer, and the bread has a handmade flavor.
How to make Hot Roast Beef Sandwiches:
This hot roast beef sandwich recipe is a simple “dump and go” meal that anybody can make. There is no need to brown the meat, however if you have the time and desire to do so, go ahead and do so.
You will need these ingredients:
- Meat roast, salt and pepper, onion powder, brown gravy packets, water
- Bottom round beef roast
This recipe calls for a bottom round beef roast, which has been my go-to cut of meat in recent months. Compared to a chuck roast, it shreds easily and requires far less fat to be removed before eating.
Directions:
- Place the roast in the slow cooker and season it with salt, pepper, and onion powder on all sides
- Cook on low for 8 hours. In a small bowl, mix together the water and gravy packets
- Pour over the roast
- And bake for 30 minutes. In order to produce a tender roast, cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours, making careful not to open the lid during the cooking period. Take the meat out of the slow cooker and shred it with two forks. Remove the fat from the gravy and set it aside. This may be accomplished by laying paper towels over the oil. Discard
How to serve:
- Place shredded meat on top of white or sourdough bread
- Mix well. mashed potatoes
- Mashed potatoes
- Mashed potatoes Pour gravy over everything and serve immediately. On the side, serve corn, green beans, or a green salad.
- Bottom round beef roastchuck (about 3-4 pounds) can also enough
- Salt, pepper, and onion powder
- 1.74oz. brown gravy mix packets (two.87 oz. packets)
- 1 1/2 cups water
- Serving Suggestions: white or sourdough bread
- Mashed potatoes
- Mashed potatoes with gravy
- Fill a 4-quart or larger slow cooker halfway with the roast
- Set aside. Season the meat with a pinch of salt, pepper, and onion powder
- Cook until done. The gravy packets and water should be whisked together until smooth in a small mixing bowl. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ingredients. Pour the mixture over the roast
- Cover with a lid and cook on LOW for 8 to 10 hours. When the cooking time is over, take the roast from the oven and lay it on a platter. Shred the meat and discard any fat. Keep warm by wrapping with aluminum foil. If you want to de-grease your gravy in the slow cooker, you may do so by ladling off the oil with a spoon or by using a paper towel to place on top of the grease and pulling off
- The gravy will stay in your slow cooker and you will not have to worry about it. Make sandwiches with the shredded beef and gravy, and serve them with mashed potatoes. Enjoy

This recipe for Slow Cooker Hot Roast Beef Sandwiches will be a hit with your family and friends! Cooking dinner in less than 2 hours (even with a slow cooker!) is possible. I’ve been wanting to make a sandwich since last year, when I purchased my husband a box kit of Chicago Style Hot Roast Beef (which he received by mail). It was fantastic – yet I was thinking – hmm. I think I can handle this! And I can do it — or at least my interpretation of it, anyhow. So please don’t shout at me if you’re from Chicago — I understand that it’s not quite the same (but it’s still delicious).
- To be clear, my slow cooker only cooked for 2-1/2 hours, so please keep that in mind when making your own version of this recipe.
- So my recommendation is to freeze it and use it on a non-working day if you’re not working.
- It’s easy to put together and tastes like comfort food to me.

DIRECTIONS
- Place the roast in a slow cooker with a capacity of 4.5 to 6 quarts. After sprinkling with onion soup mix, pour the onion soup mixture and beer over it. Drop bouillon cubes in various locations throughout the liquid and season with pepper and salt to taste
- Cook for 4-5 hours on high heat. However, I haven’t tried cooking it on low for more than 8 hours. Remove the meat from the slow cooker and slice or shred it
- Then return it to the slow cooker and cover it. Reduce the heat to low and allow the meat to absorb the juices until it is time to serve. Our preferred method of serving is to open the rolls and lay a slice of provolone on one side of each
- Then set them under the broiler until the cheese is almost melted. With a slotted spoon, place the beef on top of the sandwich and serve it with a cup of au jus on the side.

Slow cooker recipes are the ideal solution for busy moms looking for quick and easy dinners. One of my favorite lunches is a simple hot roast beef sandwich, which can be made in minutes. This dish is suitable for dinner or lunch. There is a lot of taste in the flesh, and it is soft. Toss it in the oven and forget about it until it’s time to eat. Whole Foods is where I purchased my sirloin tip roast since they utilize locally sourced beef. This, I feel, contributes to the softness of the flesh as well as the flavor.
- 2 cups beef broth and a meaty onion package should be added to your slow cooker.
- I cook it for extended periods of time because I want it to be really soft.
- But I guarantee you that cooking on low heat is worthwhile.
- Once the meat has been done, remove it from the oven and thinly slice it before returning it to the au jus for a few minutes longer to finish cooking.
- In the last hour of cooking, you may either use a strainer to drain the aujus into a saucepan and bring it to a boil with the brown gravy mix.
- I want mine thick, so I fry it on the stovetop for a short period of time to thicken it rapidly.
If you’re pressed for time, this is the most convenient alternative. Serve it with some creamy mashed potatoes and some soft French bread to soak up the juices. For my children, I simply offer the bread on the side and allow them to dunk it into the gravy as they like.
Enjoy!
- Dinner for a busy parent may be made in the slow cooker using these recipes. Roast beef sandwiches on toasted buns are one of my favorite dinners. Dinner or lunch are both acceptable options. Flavorful and tender, the meat is a pleasure to eat. Toss it in the oven and leave it aside until it’s time to consume it. Whole Foods is where I purchased my sirloin tip roast since they use locally sourced meats in their preparation. The softness of the flesh, I suppose, is also a result of this factor. Hot roast beef sandwiches are served with mashed potatoes so that I may smother them in more gravy if I want to. In a crock pot, combine 2 cups beef broth with a meaty onion package. Slow-cook the sirloin tip roast for 8-10 hours on low heat in a slow-cooker. For this reason, I prefer to cook it for extended periods of time so that it is really delicate. If you’re in a hurry, you may cook it on any of the available settings. But, believe me when I say that cooking on low heat is worth the effort! During the cooking process, turn the roast a few times to ensure that the fluids reach all of the meat pieces. As soon as the meat is done, remove it from the oven and thinly slice it before returning it to the au jus for a few minutes more. Turn the heat up to high and add both packages of brown gravy. If you don’t have time to finish it in time, strain the au jus into a saucepan and bring it to a boil with the brown gravy mix. How thick you like your gravy just depends on your preference. Cooking it on the stovetop instantly thickens it to my liking, since I want it thick. Your slow cooker’s high setting will, however, help to thicken the sauce. You should choose this option if you are limited on time. Serve it with some creamy mashed potatoes and some soft French bread. When I make it for my children, I just put the bread on the side and let them dunk it into the gravy themselves.
- 2 cups beef broth and a meaty onion package should be added to the crock pot. In a slow cooker, place the sirloin tip roast and simmer on low heat for 8-10 hours. During the cooking process, turn the roast a few times. Thinly slice the beef and add it to the au jus
- Done. Mix in both packets of brown gravy and turn the heat up to high (optional). The au jus can also be drained into a saucepan and brought to a boil with the brown gravy mix. When the gravy has thickened, spread it on a slice of soft French bread.

How to Make Crock Pot Italian Beef Sandwiches:
Starting with a 3lb chuck roast, trim any large pieces of fat from the roast and cut the roast into seven or eight large hunks, placing them in the bottom of an 8-quart crock pot. After that, add a packet of Good Seasons Zesty Italian Salad Dressing Mix to the bowl. This pre-packaged mix appeals to me since all of the components are ones that I am familiar with. This mix is NOT gluten-free, as was previously stated. Use a homemade Italian Dressing mix (halve or eliminate the salt called for in the recipe) or look for a gluten-free dressing mix such as Simply Organic (available at health food stores).
- Chicago-style Giardiniera, a type of relish made with pickled olives and vegetables and packed with herbs and oils, was something I’d never tried before, but Ben insisted it be used in this dish.
- Even though it’s intended to be served alongside Italian beef sandwiches, I could have eaten forkful after forkful of it on its own.
- Even though Giardiniera can be purchased in vinegar, I found this particular style to be a real treat.
- Once the roast can be easily shredded with a fork, shred the meat and return it to the slow cooker to continue to cook in the juices for 1 more hour on low heat.
Scoop the meat into hoagie buns and top with a slice of provolone cheese, which will melt as a result of the heat from the beef. Prepare the dish by topping it with additional pepperoncini peppers and Giardiniera.

Crock Pot Italian Beef Sandwiches are a 5-ingredient crock pot variation of the famous hot sandwich dish that uses Italian beef. This simple supper dish is a hit with the whole family!
Ingredients
- 1 3 pound boneless chuck roast that has been trimmed of visible fat and chopped into big chunks (SEE NOTE FOR GF OPTIONS) 1 envelope Good Seasons Zesty Italian salad dressing mix (SEE NOTE FOR GF OPTIONS)
- 8 oz pepperoncini pepper slices + a splash of juice (plus extra for serving)
- 8 oz Giardiniera (Chicago-Style Italian Sandwich Mix,) drained (plus extra for serving)
- 8 oz sour cream (plus extra for serving)
- Hoagie buns
- 14.5-ounce can beef broth
- Provolone cheese slices
Directions
- Place the chuck roast in the bottom of a 5.5 – 6 quart crock pot and sprinkle with the salad dressing mix. Cook on low for 5 to 6 hours. Add the pepperoncini peppers with a splash of juice, the Giardiniera, and the beef stock, then raise the chuck roast pieces to allow the liquid to collect below them. Cook on low for 9 hours, or until the meat can be easily shredded with a fork, after covering with a lid. Shred the meat, then return it to the crock pot and simmer on low for another hour or so. Split the buns in half, then spread the shredded meat mixture onto the bottom half of the buns and top with slices of provolone cheese. Serve immediately, garnished with more pepperoncini peppers and Giardiniera, if preferred
Notes
- The Good Seasons Zesty Italian Salad Dressing Mix does not include any gluten ingredients. Alternatively, you may make your own Italian Dressing Mix (by halving or eliminating the salt asked for in the recipe) or use a gluten free Italian Dressing Mix such as Simply Organic.
Adapted from the novel Pioneer Woman This recipe comes to us courtesy of Iowa Girl Eats, and it is one of my favorite crock pot meals to this day. It couldn’t have been much simpler to prepare, and the flavors from the pickled veggies and pepper rings really brought out the best in the roast beef. Let’s not forget about the chewy hoagie bread, which soaks up all the delicious juices from the meat. SO APPEALING. I hope you’ll give it a shot at some point!

This dish was proposed by my spouse, and it came out fantastic.
They couldn’t stop drooling.
Slow Cooker Hot Roast Beef Sandwich
Preparation time for this one is limited to a few minutes. Just before I was about to go for football practice, I pulled my crock pot out of the cupboard. I cooked it on low for approximately 2 1/2 hours, then turned it off. Because the meat has already been cooked, all you have to do is reheat it. My version was served on little slider buns (potato rolls), with a slice of provolone and a spray of mustard on top. The mushy, melted cheese that comes from the hot gravy is very delectable.
Ingredients for hot roast beef sandwich with deli meat
- Roast beef – I just requested that they slice the amount I required from my local grocery store deli
Update: A Costco has recently opened up just a few miles from my place, and they sell presliced roast beef in 1/5 pound packets that are excellent for this recipe. If it’s on sale, you may buy two and freeze one of them to use later on another occasion.
- I make beef gravy with Heinz Home Style Gravy (or the store brand if they have it). A smaller 12-ounce container was also added since we wanted additional gravy to pour over the french fries we were serving. (I know, it sounds pretty healthy, doesn’t it?)
- The buns- I prefer to use slider buns, and so we each get to have a few of them. Provolone cheese—you can have it sliced for you at the deli, or you can get it presliced from the dairy area of the grocery store.
How to make deli roast beef sandwich recipe
Place the roast meat in the slow cooker and pour the gravy over the top of it. Separate the beef to ensure that the gravy is evenly distributed throughout the meat.
Step 2
Cook until the food is heated.
Tip 1
You may cook this on a low or high heat setting. It doesn’t take very long in either situation.
Cooking your roast beef for only a couple of hours on low will be sufficient to get it to a serving temperature before serving. This dish was a hit with my children, and it was really quick and simple to prepare. You should include it in your weekly menu planning.

- Slices of provolone cheese and slider buns are included with 1.5 pounds of deli roast meat for sandwiches. An 18-ounce container of beef gravy is also included.
- Place the roast meat in the slow cooker and pour the gravy over it. Cook until the food is well warm.
Slow Cooker French Dip
The French Dip Sandwiches made in the slow cooker are my absolute favorite sandwich. This dish is created with thinly sliced roasted beef that you may get in the deli area of your local grocery store. A slice of provolone cheese is then placed on top of the sandwich, which is served on a warm buttered bread. The savory aujus that is included in this recipe is excellent for dipping! Sandwiches aren’t something I eat often. For my spouse, on the other hand, they are something he could have every day.
- Except for the French Dip Sandwich, which is an exception.
- Just something about it captivates me and I can’t seem to get enough of it.
- My hubby simply chuckles and teases me about my reluctance to branch out.
- It’s something I could eat at any meal.
- That is a dish that my entire family enjoys!
The Best French Dip Sandwich
I’ve attempted to make these at home using a roast, but the results were never quite as good as the sliced beef you get when ordering them from a restaurant. It wasn’t until lately that it occurred to me that I could substitute deli roast beef lunch meat in place of the genuine thing. This is the most delicious and simplest French Dip recipe I’ve ever made at home, and I couldn’t be more pleased to share it with you all. Slow Cooker Italian Beef for Sandwiches
This is just AMAZING! The preparation could not have been simpler, and the home smelled fantastic throughout the day. In order to spare people time, I looked through the majority of the 150+ reviews and came up with the following changes that I feel improved the recipe: 1) Use a chuck roast rather than a rump roast since it shreds better (and is less expensive!) 2) In place of the water, use beef broth instead. 3) Increase the amount of salad dressing mix by double. 4) After shredding the beef, return it to the crockpot and simmer for another half hour to allow the liquids to sink into the meat.
- Slow-cooked for 10 hours, and at the 8-hour point, I pulled the pork out to shred it, and it was so simple to shred that it virtually came apart in my hands.
- In addition to toasted hoagie bread, there are other alternative toppings to choose from.
- Then I put the sandwiches in the broiler for a few minutes to melt the extra sharp provolone.
- I had never heard of Italian Beef before, but after reading this recipe, I want to fly to Chicago and taste it for myself!
Most helpful critical review
Although I used beef broth and two packets of Italian seasoning, the dish turned out to be a little tasteless. It was too expensive to produce in comparison to the outcome we obtained. I was quite disappointed. More information can be found at

- There is a mistake in the list of ingredients: it asks for a 4.7 oz box dry Italian salad dressing mix, which is actually a 4.7 oz package dry Italian salad dressing mix.
- This is the proper amount: one packet of 0.7 oz of product.
- I finally found one.
- It tastes nearly just like the ones I used to receive when I was “back in the old country.” Plus, it’s very simple to cook in the crockpot!
- A few sliced green peppers were also put to the crockpot an hour or so before it had finished cooking.
- The shredded beef and peppers were then placed on toasted hoagie bread and served.
- One more tip: don’t drain the meat before putting it on the rolls; the liquid has an AMAZING flavor, so make sure you put lots of it on your sandwich to obtain the finest flavor possible!
Cooked on low for approximately 14 hours; shredded meat and chilled meat and juice were added separately and kept in the refrigerator overnight.
Horseradish and provolone cheese are served on the side.
For a fast lunch, reheat any leftovers (if you have any!).
This is a fantastic dish for anyone who are suffering from the Chicago food blues.
The ideal method is to cook it in the slow cooker until it is completely cooked through, then slice it thinly and return it to the juice for approximately an hour to finish cooking it (just like they do at the beef restaurants).
THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THE RECIPES!
However, I only use 2 cups of water and omit both the salt and onion salt.
a half cup of soy sauce 1 can of Coca-Cola (do not use diet or off-brand).
can (1 can) The zesty soup mix is made with 1 can beef broth and 1 can condensed french onion soup (Campbell’s is the finest).
In addition, I use Italian spice, which includes basil, oregano, thyme, and white pepper.
update In order to save time, I’ve started cutting out the water and adding another can of low sodium beef broth instead.
I followed their recommendations.
Served with optional provolone cheese, thinly sliced red onion, mustard/mayo sauce, and horseradish on the side, it is a comforting meal.
THANK YOU for this delicious and simple recipe!
I ended up diluting it with around 2 cups of water in the end.
Aside from that, the taste of Italian meat was certainly there and quite nice.
So far, it’s the closest thing I’ve discovered to the genuine article.
Refrigerate for at least one night before slicing it against the grain and slowly warming it in broth.
This dish has been requested by a large number of people.
I grew up in Chicago, where you can get this anyplace you can get a pizza or a hot dog, but no one had ever heard of it until I moved to Phoenix.
This is much better if you use chicken broth instead of water in the recipe.

- Performing Two-Tasks Shirley G. is a woman who lives in the United States. The 26th of September, 2017 I followed the recipe exactly, with the exception of halving it, and it yielded two servings. First, I used it to make a sandwich, which turned out to be rather tasty. For supper, I served the remaining half of the meat over broad egg noodles that I had prepared earlier. Excellent. I plan to make this again and freeze the leftovers for a nice sandwich in the winter. Yumy and Quickrtrock02 are two of the most talented musicians in the world. The 24th of July, 2016 This dish is fantastic. It is simple to prepare and excellent. This is the second time I’ve created anything like this. really tasty
- Perfect French Dip Made From Scratch Ferrillcat The 25th of February, 2013 With this recipe, you can prepare a delicious sandwich that rivals any French Dip you would have in a restaurant. We prefer to substitute Swiss cheese with the Provolone. We also prefer to butter the hoagie bread and toast it in the oven, which doesn’t take much time to prepare but significantly improves the taste of the sandwich. Whatever method you use, you should give it a go.

I adore the robust taste, and it elevates the sandwich to genuinely exceptional status.

- Chuck roast- various roast cuts can be used, but because to the high fat content of this cut, it is the most tender.
