Christy’s Awesome Hot Ham and Cheese

This is a really tasty sandwich. Pickles and tomatoes are two of my favorite toppings for mine. And yes, it’s very delicious with homemade tomato soup. Yum!

It was necessary for me to try this because I adore swiss cheese.

As the submitter points out, this is particularly delicious with tomato soup.

I prepare it in large amounts and store it in the freezer.

  • Thank you for sharing this wonderful recipe.
  • You really can’t go wrong with this combination of components.
  • Sometime I make it with honey mustard and pepper jack cheese, which is also really good because it adds a little heat and sweetness while still keeping it simple.

  5. Thanks for the recipe and ideas!

1. Best Grilled Cheese Sandwich Recipe

Even with all of those nice artisan breads and costly cheeses, I would much prefer eat a plain grilled cheese sandwich on a regular basis rather than anything else. My favorite combination is white bread, cheddar cheese, and plenty of butter. Of course, a decent sourdough loaf is always a pleasant change of pace and flavor! But there’s something so simple and pure about a plain old grilled cheese sandwich like your mother used to prepare. Just make sure you don’t use that horrible sliced cheese that never expires!

2. Apple, CheddarTurkey Panini

This apple, cheddar, and turkey panini is a simple yet delectable combination for when you want something extra. The combination of the crispness of the apple and the richness of a good aged cheddar is quite delicious. The turkey contributes much-needed salt to the dish. I prefer to slice my apples very thinly, but you may also dice them and combine them with a little mayo and grated cheese before spreading it on the toast.

3. Hot Ham and Cheese Party Sandwiches

It’s the perfect small appetizer for your next get-together if you want something quick, warm, and delectable. Using Hawaiian rolls will save you a lot of time and effort because all you have to do is split the full package in half (they come attached like one big loaf). Prepare your huge sandwich and place it in the oven until the cheese is melted. Then, just cut the wires or let your visitors to tear them apart as they like.

4. Easy Tuna Melts

Tuna melts aren’t usually my favorite thing to eat, and I have to be in the correct frame of mind to enjoy them.

If they’re presented on a delicious English muffin with plenty of cheese and tomato slices on top, I’ll gladly accept a mouthful. I like to add additional green onions to mine, and I always broil them towards the end to ensure that the tomatoes are lovely and mushy when they are finished.

5. Grilled ChickenAvocado Panini

Purchasing deli meat for a week’s worth of meals is not always the most cost-effective solution. As a result, I like to purchase entire chickens and roast them. As soon as they’re done cooking, I rip them apart and use them for everything from spaghetti to wraps to sandwiches. Believe it or not, I prefer chicken breast to the rest of the bird, and I prefer to slice it thinly when I do. However, the dark meat will make dish much more tasty without the need to use excessive amounts of seasoning salt.

6. Ham, Apple, and Swiss Panini

Despite being identical to the recipe above, this panini is packed with rich, salty ham tastes and a wonderful, nutty Swiss cheese that makes it a standout. The mayo and mustard spread, which is delicious and provides a creamy hint of spiciness, is also included. Straight mustard, on the other hand, would be a fantastic complement to the ham and cheese.

7. Bacon and Eggs Breakfast Panini

Are you looking for a convenient method to pack breakfast on the go? Would you want something tasty to eat on the barbecue that includes scrambled eggs, crispy bacon, and loads of cheese? When dealing with a soft filling – such as scrambled eggs – it is preferable to begin with pieces of soft bread as a foundation. You won’t have to worry about squashing everything out while it toasts. Whatever is whole wheat and seeded is a favorite of mine, but some thick brioche would be heavenly with a dollop of butter.

8. Homemade Sloppy Joes

Is there anyone who didn’t grow up with these? They’re juicy, sloppy, and ridiculously simple to make! Ground beef will ensure that they are lovely and rich, but because the sauce is so robust, you may easily use something more lean instead of ground beef. The nicest part about this is that you can sneak in a whole bunch of vegetables and no one will notice! Please ensure that the vegetables are diced or blitzed in the tomato sauce before incorporating them into the meat mixture.

9. Louisville’s Historic Brown Hotel’s Original “Hot Brown” Sandwich

When this open-faced sandwich was created one night in Louisville, Kentucky, it was a sort of hybrid between the Welsh Rarebit and a Croque Monsieur, and it was rather delicious. You’ll prepare a delectable mornay sauce, which you’ll serve over two slices of thick bread topped with tomato slices and turkey breast. A layer of more cheese is placed on top, and the whole thing is grilled until it is creamy, salty, gooey, and just delicious.

10. Brie Grilled Cheese

You’ve most likely tasted baked brie in the past (if you haven’t, go in the kitchen right away)! As brie is traditionally served with a large slice of crusty bread, it stands to reason that a brie grilled cheese would be equally as delicious. In addition, some luscious sliced strawberries and aromatic basil leaves are added to make it even more delicious.

11. Easy Italian Panini

Maintaining strict compliance with the items specified below will result in an absolutely fantastic hot sandwich! When it comes to food, on the other hand, there are no rules.

Are you a salami skeptic? Why not give chorizo a shot? Can’t handle the taste of banana peppers? Instead, go for some roasted red peppers to complement your meal. In any case, be sure to use a lot of meat and a lot of fresh salad ingredients, such as thick tomatoes and spicy red onion.

12. Grilled Chicken, Bacon, and Onion Panini Sandwich

The combination of chicken and bacon is a marriage made in heaven. No greater combination, especially on a hot sandwich, I don’t believe there is. If you ask me, the onion is a really adaptable structure to work with. Red onion slices are a good choice if you prefer your food crispy. However, chopped green onions are a gentler alternative if you like something milder. If you truly want to wow your guests, you must try these caramelized onions!

13. Spinach and Feta Grilled Cheese

For the vegetarians in the party, there is no greater combination than spinach and feta cheese to make. I appreciate that this recipe makes use of mozzarella cheese to achieve that incredible grilled cheese “pull,” while being mild enough not to dominate the salty feta. Aside from that, this would be a fantastic addition to those caramelized onions.

14. Cuban Sandwich Recipe

Whenever I travel to Miami, my first visit is always a Cubano store, which is a local institution. The ingredients for this Cuban hot sandwich include an exciting blend of roasted pork and ham, as well as gruyere cheese, mustard, and plenty of pickles. The pork tenderloin used in this sandwich is cooked from scratch and is not excessively salted like other sandwiches made with deli meat.

15. Classic Monte Cristo Sandwich

Despite the fact that the name indicates otherwise, this is a uniquely American invention. This egg-dipped grilled cheese sandwich, which is a variation on the classic French Croque Monsieur, elevates the familiar hot sandwich to a whole new level. Following the preparation of your sandwich, all that remains is to dip it in some beaten eggs. In a hot skillet with butter, the entire dish is cooked until crispy and toasty.

16. Red PepperGoat Cheese Panini

If spinach and feta are too mild for your taste, this red pepper and goat cheese dish will knock your socks off. Although it isn’t mentioned in the title, this sandwich also includes a big spread of olive tapenade, which adds tang and a nice layer of acidity to the overall flavor. Do you need some additional protein? This is a fantastic accompaniment to grilled chicken.

17. French Dip Sandwich

I’m not sure which is my favorite part about this dish: the tender beef that melts in your tongue or the amazing au jus that is brimming with flavor. The best thing is that you can cook the beef low and slow in a Crockpot while simultaneously making the jus. It’s particularly delicious as a result of the beer in the recipe, and you can easily amp up the ante by using an ale or a stout as an alternative.

18. Dr. Pepper Pulled Pork

Do you own a slow cooker? So you must be preparing pulled pork on a weekly basis, don’t you think? I’m certain of it! In addition to providing amazing warmth and flavor to your meat, the bubbles in the soda also work as a tenderizer! I really like the tastes you get from using Dr. Pepper — they are creamy and fruity – but Coca-Cola pulled pork is also delicious.

19. Philly Cheesesteak Recipe

My very first Philly cheesesteak is etched in my memory. My first experience with it was at a random hole in the wall in Philadelphia, and it completely blew my mind.

This sandwich is made up of several crucial ingredients, including ribeye steak, provolone cheese, caramelized onions, and a soft hoagie soaked in garlic butter. Each plays an important function in this dish, and a Philly cheesesteak would be incomplete without them all.

20. Grilled Caprese Panini

I’ve never met somebody who doesn’t enjoy melting cheese, and I’m not sure why. However, for those who want their mozzarella firm, this Caprese panini is a good option. You’ll need to slice the cheese pretty thickly, and while it may soften slightly during baking, it will not become gooey. Pre-roasting the tomatoes allows me to achieve the desired result of blistered and juicy tomatoes. It is possible that they will soften as the whole item is grilling if you slice them thin enough.

21. Croque-Monsieur

Unanimously, this luscious creamy French hot sandwich is one of the best you’ll ever have. Remember that blazing brown from up over the tree line? This was a major source of inspiration for it! There’s also a lovely mornay sauce, salty ham, and exquisite Gruyère cheese, which is really rich, somewhat salty, and wonderfully nutty, all of which are required for this dish. Because the sauce is so thick, you’ll need a knife and fork to cut through it.

22. DIY Popeyes Chicken Sandwich

Making fried chicken at home isn’t difficult, but it does need a small amount of planning. For example, you’ll want to marinate the chicken (ideally boneless thighs) in seasoned buttermilk for as long as possible; 24 hours is the ideal amount of time to marinade. A mixture of flour, cornstarch, and spices will be used to coat the chicken before baking it. Make sure to firmly push it down so that you receive excellent covering. Make sure not to overcrowd the pan as you’re frying it. This will cause the total temperature of the oil to decrease, resulting in the oil not becoming as crispy as you like.

23. McDonald’s Sausage and Egg McMuffin Recipe

Certainly, eggs and bacon are a match made in heaven, but what about sausage and eggs? I enjoy the additional taste that sausage meat provides, and it is far more satisfying than a few slices of bacon. Buy frozen sausage patties, create your own from scratch with fresh meat, or even just use fresh sausages to get the flavor you want.

24. Chocolate and Brie Panini

Why not start with strawberry and brie and then go on to chocolate and brie? Although it may appear to be a little weird, it is something you must experience for yourself! Despite the fact that brie is quite creamy and may be rather rich in flavor, it is not too savory. When you combine it with some high-quality chocolate, you get the perfect sweet-savory combination. Do you require a little crunch? Try putting some chopped nuts on top of your dish! Alternatively, you might add a little Nutella on your toast!

25. Vegetarian Apple Cheddar Panini

When I was a youngster, I remember my mother eating pieces of cheddar with apples, and it was always a pleasant surprise. Her favorite way to eat it was with fruit cake around the holidays! You need a strong cheese with a lot of kick in this recipe because you don’t have any meat to provide a flavor boost. That necessitates the selection of a smoky or robust whiskey, such as Muenster or Monterey Jack.

Hot Ham And Cheese Party Sandwiches • The Wicked Noodle

When I was a youngster, my family would cook two types of sandwiches on a regular basis: hot ham and cheese and tuna cheesies. Both were roasted in the oven until they were hot and the cheese was melted and gooey, which took about 20 minutes. Party sandwiches were popular in the 1980s, and they were the 1980s version. When I was growing up, we lived in a rather tiny town, and I clearly remember when we got our first fast-food restaurant. It was a Hardee’s, and they were still serving their hot ham and cheese sandwiches at the time.

  • “Just grab me a hot ham and cheese sandwich, the Dukes of Hazzard are on tonight,” I’d always say in response.
  • I prepare party sandwiches on a regular basis, regardless of whether or not there is an actual party taking on.
  • And with a fast side salad, you can’t go wrong with them for supper.
  • It’s for a good reason why they’re referred to as party sandwiches!

Do Hawaiian rolls need baking? Can I skip that step?

Due to the fact that the Hawaiian rolls have already been baked, there is no need to bake them before assembling the party sandwiches. So you could technically omit the baking step, but it’s an extremely vital component of what makes them so incredibly delicious in the first place. With each bite, you want the heated cheese to stretch and peel away from your teeth. You want the buttery mixture to bake inside the rolls rather than on top of them. The ham and cheese combination, not just ham and cheese, must be used in this case.

It’s well worth the extra effort.

What cheese is best with ham?

Swiss cheese is the cheese of choice for ham, and that’s what I often use for this dish. Cheddar and ham go together like peanut butter and jelly, but cheddar doesn’t melt as smoothly as butter, so I don’t use it in this recipe. Smoked Gouda is wonderful and makes a great addition to a more “grown-up” sandwich for a party. It’s possible that brie with sliced apples may be a hit as well, but I haven’t tried it yet.

How do you keep the sandwiches warm at a party?

One method of accomplishing this (while still making them easily accessible to hungry partygoers) is to use a crockpot. Sandwiches should be wrapped individually in aluminum foil and placed in the crockpot set on the lowest heat setting. You may alternatively bake the rolls for approximately an hour, gently covered with aluminum foil, if you want to save time. Make certain that the temperature in your oven is set to the lowest possible level.

Hot Ham and Cheese Sandwiches

You have arrived to the following page: Hot Ham and Cheese Sandwiches (Home/Dinner/Hot Ham and Cheese Sandwiches) Ham and cheese sandwiches, traditionally served as takeaway, may now be enjoyed at home! The layers of ham and gooey cheese are cooked between buttery toasted buns, making for a quick and easy evening dinner! We don’t eat takeout very frequently around here since we enjoy cooking so much ourselves. A heated ham and cheese sandwich, on the other hand, is one of my absolute favorites when we get together.

I prefer preparing these sandwiches at home even more since I can control the quality of the ham I use, the type of cheese that everyone enjoys, how well the buns are toasted, and whether or not I apply a creamy dijonnaise sauce on top.

Hot Ham and Cheese Sandwiches:

They are so simple to prepare that I almost hesitate to call them a “recipe,” but I hope you like them as much as my family does. I’ll tell you how we like to perfect them at our house.

  • You may use either thick or thin ham, depending on your preference. I always grab the very thin sliced ham from the deli counter at my workplace. Then I stack a couple pieces of ham on top of that, followed by a piece of cheese. I make a wonderful substantial sandwich by repeating the layers twice
  • Toasting the buns is completely optional, however. They are brushed with butter and then toasted under the broiler for about 2 minutes before being assembled into sandwiches. Do not toast the buns first if you like a softer texture
  • You may use whatever type of cheese you want, certainly, whatever your family loves! The mozzarella cheese is our favorite, but Swiss, cheddar, and Monterey Jack are other excellent choices
  • The addition of mayonnaise is also optional. A simple combination of mayonnaise and spicy or dijon mustard is all that is required. It only adds a little more taste, which we happen to enjoy

Just a little word on how to prepare these sandwiches. Most of the time, I make them at home for a super-fast 10-minute meal. These, on the other hand, can undoubtedly be grilled! There’s a terrific sandwich for camping that you can make. All that is required is that you build the sandwiches, wrap them in aluminum foil, and cook them for a few minutes until the cheese is melted. Enjoy! ~Nichole

Sandwiches should have their top buns placed on them. Alternatively, you may bake the sandwiches for 7-10 minutes, until the cheese is melted. High broil setting on your oven is required. Using a large baking sheet, arrange the hamburger buns open side up. Make a uniform layer of butter on the buns and bake for 15 minutes.
