Easy Stromboli Sandwich

Easy Stromboli Sandwich is a quick and easy supper for busy nights that the whole family will enjoy. Made using French bread, sausage, and pizza sauce, this dish is quick and simple to prepare. This recipe continues to wow me with how simple it is to prepare each time. Furthermore, you have the option of making it as basic or as complex as you desire. Keep it simple by following the recipe below, and you’ll have a quick meal or appetizer for a large group of people in no time. However, if you’re willing to put in the effort, you may completely personalize this to your liking.

To be honest, whatever you’d put on a pizza or a sandwich would be suitable.

It’s possible that you will not want to use the additional Italian seasoning, but it’s always an option.

Easy Stromboli Sandwich

Whenever I’m in the mood to be extra fancy, I butter the top slice of French bread with approximately a Tablespoon of melted butter, sprinkle on more grated parmesan cheese, and season it with a little extra Italian spice before baking it. Other favorites in the “pizza” category include the following:

  • Pepperoni Crescent Roll Calzones
  • Pizza Sloppy Joes in the Instant Pot
  • And more.

Easy Stromboli Sandwich

One loaf of grocery store french bread, sausage, pizza sauce and cheese come together to make this easy meal. What’s not to like about this?

  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 loaf French bread
  • 1 pound Italian sausage
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1/4 cup parmesan cheese
  • 114 ounce jar pizza sauce
  • 2-3 cups mozzerella cheese, shredded
  • Brown the sausage in a frying pan until it is fully done, then drain well. Add the Italian spices, garlic salt, and parmesan cheese to the drained sausage and toss to incorporate. To make my sausage and toppings settle down in the bread and not just fall off the bread, I cut a little “V” into the french bread loaf horizontally, then slice it horizontally again. Pour approximately 3/4 of the pizza sauce on the bottom piece of bread, top with the sausage mixture, spread the remaining pizza sauce on top of the sausage mixture, then sprinkle the entire amount of shredded mozzarella cheese on top
  • Place the top of the french bread on top of the sandwich and bake for 15-20 minutes in a preheated 350° oven

The top slice of French bread is brushed with a little butter and sprinkled with parmesan cheese, as well as a dash of Italian spices when I’m feeling particularly fancy and have time!

Easy Italian Stromboli Sandwich

Using store-bought pizza dough from the neighborhood bakery, this Easy Italian Stromboli Sandwich recipe whips up a traditional Italian sandwich filled with pepperoni and cheese. Last week, I had the opportunity to prepare this Easy Italian Stromboli Sandwich with a well-known baker right in my own home! Even if you’ve never heard of him before, there’s a strong possibility that you’ve had his bread at some point in your life before. Tony Pestritto’s bread was perhaps the first bread you ever tasted if you happened to buy a sandwich from a Subway restaurant in the 1980s.

  • They are both residents of South Florida.
  • And the Easy Stromboli that he prepared was really delectable!
  • First, let me tell you a little bit about Tony before I get into the step-by-step instructions for making this dish.
  • Pestritto is a retired entrepreneur who has seen firsthand what it means to enjoy the American dream.
  • Stromboli was only one of the numerous items that contributed to his success in the food industry.
  • It was his most significant achievement to become the first baking firm to offer frozen dough to the Subway Restaurant Company.
  • This Easy Italian Stromboli Sandwich dish, on the other hand, is something that anybody can make because it starts with pre-made pizza dough, which you can get at your local grocery store.

Begin by spreading the dough out on a lightly floured surface and pressing it down.

After that, top with sliced sharp cheddar cheese.

With a sharp knife, make a few slits on the top of the jar.

Allow the dough to rest for 20-30 minutes after covering it with a kitchen towel.

Allow it to cool for a few minutes.

Tony is shown here with the completed result.

It was a delight to have him and my mother-in-law, Gerre, come to see us for a few days this past weekend!

As for my family, the Easy Italian Stromboli Sandwich was a tremendous hit. It was a huge hit with everyone. That’s a fantastic recipe to serve as a full lunch or supper dish, or even as a healthy snack. Delicioso!

This hot Italian sandwich contains all of the same ingredients as a fantastic slice of pizza, but there’s something special about wrapping it up in pizza dough for a crunchy crust that you’ll love even more! When I cook this quick and easy Italian Stromboli for dinner, there are never any leftovers. STROMBOLI FROM ITALY Do you enjoy this recipe?

Similar to a cheese turnover, it’s stuffed with a variety of different meats and veggies.

Stromboli vs Calzone

  • A Stromboli and a calzone are nearly identical in appearance
  • However, a Stromboli is normally fashioned like a long cylinder, whilst a calzone is shaped like a crescent
  • Another distinction between calzone and stromboli is that a stromboli has the sauce cooked within the dough, but a calzone has the sauce served alongside the other contents rather than inside the crust. Unlike calzones, which are loaded with typical pizza toppings, stromboli is more like a sandwich
  • Stromboli components include the same types of elements that would be found in an Italian hoagie.

Do you know where the Stromboli originated?

  • Despite the fact that we most likely all think of this dinner as Italian, which is how I classified it in the recipe, it is believed to have originated right here in the United States. Several eateries say they were the ones who developed this delectable gem

However, it is believed that this dish originated in the United States. Although we may all regard this dish to be Italian in origin, I classed it as such in the recipe. It is claimed by several eateries that they are the ones who invented this delectable delicacy.

How to make stromboli

  • It is possible to use handmade pizza dough, but if you are in a hurry (or have forgotten to prepare, as I have done on occasion), you may purchase pre-made pizza dough from the grocery store or your local pizzeria instead. Typically available in the refrigerated aisle, either in a tube or a bag, it’s always best to let your pizza dough to come to room temperature before using it in the oven. Although it’s preferable for me to roll it flat into the proper form and set it aside before adding the additional ingredients, this isn’t strictly required if you’re in a rush. Then add your sandwich contents and bake for a few minutes. When all of the filling components are locked within one another, something miraculous happens. The characteristics of the meat are transmitted to the other components, resulting in a unified hot Italian sandwich with a distinct flavor profile. It’s very fantastic
  • Cut into pieces for serving and get your hands dirty

How to make Italian stromboli:

I used Wewalka Classic Pizza Crust for this particular recipe. Because it comes with parchment paper, I found it to be a breeze to roll up the stromboli after it was in the pan. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit (convection). Begin by flattening out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface. After that, begin assembling the Italian Sub components on one side of the dough, rather than in the center. Place the ham, salami, pepperoni, swiss cheese, pepperoncini’s, chopped tomatoes, swiss cheese, and mozzarella cheese on a baking sheet and bake for 30 minutes.

  1. Because this pizza crust is pre-made using parchment paper, it is quite simple to wrap up the stromboli once it is baked.
  2. Remove the parchment paper from the pizza crust and continue the process until the pizza dough is entirely wrapped up and the filling is completely folded up into the pizza crust.
  3. An egg should be whisked and then brushed on top of the crust.
  4. 5-6 incisions should be made on top of the crust with a knife to allow the heat to escape while baking.
  5. Placing the dish in the oven and baking for 20 minutes should enough.

Take the Italian Sub stromboli out of the oven and set it aside. Slice the pizza and serve it with the pizza sauce that you made earlier. And here you have it. From our house in the Lower Left Corner of the Mitten to yours, we hope you like it!

  • 214 ounces Wewalka Classic Pizza Crust
  • 9ounces Black Forest ham slices
  • 1/4pound hard salami
  • 3ounces sliced pepperoni
  • 8ounces shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese cut into 8 slices
  • 1/4cup prepared Italian dressing
  • 2 Roma tomatoes diced
  • 1/4cup medium peppercinis
  • 1 medium egg
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 16ounces prepared pizza sauce
  • 214 ounces Wewalka Classic Pizza Crust
  • 9ounces Black Forest
  • 425 degrees Fahrenheit is the temperature in the oven. To begin, roll out the pizza dough as thinly as possible. Begin by arranging the ingredients for the Italian Sub on one side of the dough. Place the ham, salami, pepperoni, swiss cheese, pepperoncini’s, chopped tomatoes, swiss cheese, and mozzarella cheese on a baking sheet and bake for 30 minutes. Dressing: Pour the Italian dressing over the top, dividing it between the two salads. Begin by folding the pizza crust over the filling
  • Then repeat the process. Remove the parchment paper from the pizza crust and continue the process until the pizza dough is entirely wrapped up and the filling is completely folded up into the pizza crust. Crimp the end of the pizza dough to ensure that the stromboli is entirely sealed
  • An egg is whisked and then brushed on top of the crust
  • 5-6 incisions should be made on top of the crust with a knife to allow the heat to escape while baking
  • Season with garlic powder and Italian spice
  • Toss to combine. Placing it in the oven for 20 minutes will do the trick. Take the Italian Sub stromboli out of the oven and set it aside. Slice the pizza and serve it with the pizza sauce that you made earlier. Enjoy
