Party Sub from Our Best Bites

This party sub is one of my favorite quick dinners, and it’s a terrific way to serve a large group of people! It is possible to create a 6′ sub by cutting off the ends of the french bread and putting multiple of these sandwiches onto a single long sandwich board. Because it’s so straightforward, be sure to use only the finest meats, cheeses, and fresh veggies possible. These are wonderful for a summer evening supper, or you can wrap it up in aluminum foil and take it with you to the beach, or to see the fireworks, or to serve any type of hungry audience.

Description

This party sub is a simple and delicious way to feed a large group of people! As one of eight children, my father’s parents had a general shop and deli after moving from the New Jersey suburbs to a tiny Vermont town, which is merely to say that my grandmother understood how to cook a large sandwich for a large group of people. It was in her kitchen that I spent many summers, cooking picnic lunches for two or three aunts and a circus of cousins, which we would then take to the lake.

  • They were filling, could be made ahead of time, and were easy to transport.
  • This sandwich for a crowd is not your standard sub sandwich for a get-together.
  • While a sub sandwich is appropriate for a party, it is not ideal for a picnic, walk, or trip to the beach since it does not carry well.
  • (Photo courtesy of Maria Midoes.) Ideally, you’ll want a large round, flat loaf that weighs one pound or more.
  • Bakeries are more likely to have larger loaves than grocery stores, however most grocers will bake you a larger loaf if you give them at least 24 hours notice.
  • You’ll want something with a beautiful crust and enough of crunch – a country loaf, Italian ciabatta, or an Italian peasant bread would all work well.
  • It is possible to keep the bread from becoming mushy by brushing it with a thin layer of mayonnaise (or, in this instance, olive oil).

Wrap and Rest This Sandwich

Wrapping the final sandwich tightly in plastic wrap and placing it in the refrigerator for at least an hour before slicing accomplishes two things: In addition to allowing all the tastes from the meats, cheese, and veggies to mingle together, it also makes eating the sandwich much more enjoyable. I remember my grandma unwrapping the sandwich before we placed it in our cooler, cutting it into wedges with a big serrated knife, and then rewrapping the entire sandwich in a huge clean kitchen towel.

No need to bring a knife with us, and the presentation was exquisite. We were quite pleased. This make-ahead sandwich feeds up to 10 people, making it ideal for summer picnics, hikes, and excursions to the beach, among other activities.

Ingredients

  • 1large round bread loaf or boule (about 9 inches in diameter, 1 1/4 pounds)
  • 1/4cup olive oil, divided
  • 1large round bread loaf or boule (approximately 9 inches in diameter, 1 1/4 pounds)
  • 6 cups shredded iceberg lettuce (about 2 ounces)
  • 1 big tomato, thinly sliced
  • 3 teaspoons red wine vinegar
  • Salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 large tomato, thinly sliced
  • 3 tablespoons red wine vinegar

Instructions

  1. Prepare the bread as follows: Cut the loaf of bread in half horizontally. Cut away some of the soft inside from both sides, but cut away more from the bottom half than the top half. A recess in the bottom half of the sandwich will allow the sandwich ingredients to rest within
  2. This is what you want to do. Using condiments, brush on: 2 tablespoons of the olive oil should be brushed into the inside of each half. (Alternatively, mayonnaise or mustard can be substituted.) Ingredients should be layered as follows: In the bottom half of the bread, arrange the meat and cheese in a layer. Start with the ham, next go on to the salami, and last to the cheese
  3. Toss in the vegetables: Place the tomatoes on top of the cheese, then the iceberg lettuce
  4. Repeat the process. Season the sandwich with the following ingredients: The remaining 2 tablespoons of olive oil and the vinegar should be drizzled on top of each piece of lettuce. Season with salt and pepper if desired. Wrap up and take a break: Place the top half of the bread on top of the lettuce and softly push it down into the lettuce. Wrap the sandwich tightly in two pieces of plastic wrap and place it in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour or up to 1 day. Using a slicer, cut and serve: Remove the sandwich from its wrapper and cut it into wedges using a long, serrated knife

Recipe Notes

Simple serving: Prepare the sandwich at home, then rewrap it for convenient serving in a park or picnic location. Prepare ahead of time: This sandwich may be made up to 1 day ahead of time and kept in the fridge. Storage: Leftovers can be kept for up to 3 days in the refrigerator if they are well wrapped. Mini Party Subs – Great for Parties!

If you’ve got a group of friends coming over to watch the Big Game, check out this delectableMini Party Subsrecipe that’s sure to delight any crowd, no matter what the occasion may be! This meal is always a hit with guests! Sandwiches are my absolute favorite food, guy. Perhaps it was all of the peanut butter and jelly and bologna sandwiches I ate as a youngster, but my first Subway sandwich was a fantastic experience. To this day, my favorite sandwich is the same every time I get it: Spicy Italian on Italian Herb Bread with cheese, lettuce, onions, oil, vinegar, salt, and pepper on the side; it’s a classic.

It has been like way for decades.

We also have a few more sandwich-making skills under our sleeves.

It’s very wonderful!

This dish is always a hit with guests. Sandwiches are one of my most favorite foods, period. My first Subway sandwich was a fantastic experience, perhaps due to all of the peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and bologna sandwiches I ate growing up. To this day, my favorite sandwich is the same every time I get it: Spicy Italian on Italian Herb Bread with cheese, lettuce, onions, oil, vinegar, salt, and pepper on the side, with a side of fries.

Mini Party Subs served hot, for example.

Mini Party Subs for Entertaining

There are five distinct types of meat in each of these Mini Party Subs.

I believe that the meat we utilize complements one another really well. Although we used Colby Jack cheese for this, any type of cheddar will work just as well! We’re just enormous lovers of Colby Jack cheese, and we think it goes very well with the rest of the sandwich, don’t you think?

Mini Party Subs for Football

Is it possible to serve this sandwich cold? Sure. However, we preferred to heat them up since the tastes of the meat mingle together with the cheese, resulting in a pleasantly melty and cheesy texture. Never forget what it does for a hoagie roll: making these awesomeMini Party Substoasting the bread makes it warm and toasty, with a small crunch that you’ll love!

Easy Mini Party Subs

Make some for your next get-together. Make it for your next birthday, a celebration, or a special occasion! Whatever the event (football party, holiday party, etc.), these quick Mini Party Subs are excellent! What’s even more exciting is that these sandwiches can be piled together to form a sandwich tower! The way these are presented is outstanding. It is feasible to serve or feed visitors using toothpicks since they allow you to keep the sandwiches together to the greatest extent possible (despite the fact that the cheese has melted and kept everything close together).

Cheesy Mini Party Subs

Can you possibly stand it with all that delicious melty cheese on your plate? We used sliced cheese so that we could stack it more quickly, but you could use shredded cheese as long as it was completely melted. The use of sliced cheese for us was a no-brainer because I want my sandwiches to be as clean as possible (unless when it’s a sloppy sandwich like a Sloppy Joe or Meatball Sub, in which case you’re intended to get messy). It melted well and sliced fairly easily with little mess, but as I previously stated, you may use shredded cheese or a different sort if you like that.

Baked Mini Party Subs

Even though we didn’t season the meat in thisMini Party Subsrecipe, you may season the meat or simply butter the top bread and season everything on top to taste. The meat and cheese were the stars of the show on these subs, so we kept it simple, but you could season them up like a Subway sandwich (which is how I get my sandwiches from them) if you wanted to! With them, the sky is truly the limit!

Mini Party Subs Recipe

Whether you serve these on a plate or on a huge wooden cutting board, as we did, these Mini Party Subs are really tasty and present themselves wonderfully! Who wouldn’t want to snag one of these to put on their plate during a get-together like this? They are appropriate for persons of all ages!

How to Make Mini Party Subs

You’ll need the following items to prepare these simpleMini Party Subs for your next party:

  • Hoagie rolls
  • Colby jack cheese
  • Smoked turkey
  • Honey ham
  • Roast beef
  • Hard salami
  • Pepperoni

You will also require the following equipment:

  • Bake sheet, parchment paper or silicone baking mat, bread knife, toothpicks, and other kitchen supplies

Preheat the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit before you begin. Make two halves of each hoagie roll by using a good quality bread knife to cut them in half lengthwise. Each slice of cheese should be cut in half. The first step is to spread a layer of cheese on the bread. When the cheese is melted, it will work as a sort of adhesive, holding the bread and meat together while cooking. Continue to assemble your sandwich by layering the smoked turkey on top of the cheese and pressing down firmly. Fold the turkey in half and place it on top of the cheese to complete the sandwich.

  1. Add a couple of slices of roast beef to the sandwich and arrange them nicely on top.
  2. Add your pepperoni slices on top of the salami to complete the look.
  3. Remember how we used it to “glue” the sandwich together?
  4. Bread knife: Use your bread knife to cut each sandwich into three equal pieces.
  5. Place the sandwich pieces on a baking sheet that has been coated with parchment paper and bake for 15 minutes, or until the cheese has melted and the bread has been toasted.

Remove it from the oven once it has been toasted and the cheese has melted, and set it aside to cool. It’s ready to serve once it’s had a chance to chill a little.

  • Hoagie rolls (8 count), 1 package sliced Colby jack cheese, 1 package smoked turkey, 1 package honey ham, 1 packet honey mustard 1-pound package of roasted beef
  • 1-pound package of firm salami
  • 1-pound package of pepperoni
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Each hoagie roll should be cut in half lengthwise
  • Each slice of cheese should be cut in half. Build each sandwich by stacking two half slices of cheese, four slices of turkey, four slices of ham, two pieces of roast beef, three slices of salami, three slices of pepperoni, and another two half slices of cheese on top of one another. Stack the hoagie bun on top of the sandwich and cut each sandwich into three equal pieces
  • Repeat with the other sandwich. Using a baking sheet that hasn’t been oiled, place the sandwich pieces and bake for 15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the bread is toasted
  • Allow for a little cooling period before serving.

The Best Sub Sandwiches for The Big Game

This guide has all of the information you need to arrange a sub sandwich party, including suggestions for what to serve with sub sandwiches! Sub sandwiches are the finest option for feeding a large group of people at a Super Bowl party! Tyson Foods Inc. has provided sponsorship for this post. All of my views and opinions are completely my own. With the aid of Sara Lee® Premium Meats and our advice for hosting the ideal sub sandwich bar, it has never been easier to step up your game for the Big Game.

The sandwiches will be liked by all ages, from children to adults (since who doesn’t enjoy a nice sandwich?) and your family and friends will be delighted.

And it is for this reason that I strive to provide a variety of delectable alternatives for everyone.

Starting with high-quality ingredients is critical when throwing a sub sandwich get-together.

  1. Sara Lee® Premium Meats are a brand of premium meats produced by Sara Lee®. Alternatively, you may have them sliced-to-order at your grocery store’s deli counter, or you can purchase them freshly sliced in the deli cooler, ready to grab and go. Every time I buy meat, I turn to Sara Lee® Premium Meats, since I know the meat will be fresh and excellent every time. A variety of breads are available, including sub rolls, mini sub rolls, ciabatta rolls, brioche buns, and French bread, among others. American, Provolone, Colby-Jack, Swiss, and Havarti are among the cheeses available. lettuce, tomato, spinach, onion, banana peppers, and avocado are some of the vegetables you can have. Mayonnaise, mustard, dijonaise, chipotle mayonnaise, oil, and vinegar are examples of spreads.

How much deli meat per person?

To determine how much Sara Lee® Premium Meats you should purchase, estimate that each sandwich will contain approximately 2 to 3 ounces of meat. This implies that you will require slightly less than two pounds of deli meat for ten sandwiches and slightly less than four pounds of meat for twenty sandwiches. * Pro tip: Ask for the meat to be finely chopped before serving. Meats that are thinly sliced will go a little further than meats that are chopped deeper. You will want to think about the appearance of your dish after you have stocked up on fresh supplies.

  • Make advantage of your imagination and whatever you have on hand!
  • Today, I’m going to provide three distinct sandwich ideas for the Big Game that your guests will like, all of which have football-themed titles.
  • Not only does displaying the ingredients in this manner seem lovely, but it also serves a practical purpose in that diners can clearly see which elements to use in their sandwich.
  • This recipe for “The Pig Skin” (a favorite moniker for the football that supporters have used for decades) calls for Sara Lee® Honey Ham, bacon, Swiss cheese and barbeque sauce with cole slaw as the topping.

When you provide visitors with these sandwich alternatives, as well as a board or tray stocked with a variety of toppings, it allows them to be creative and come up with their own sub sandwich combinations, which is a lot of fun to do. Sandwiches made to order are a hit with everyone.

What sides go with sub sandwiches for a party?

There are a variety of side dishes that are excellent with submarine sandwiches. I prefer to keep a variety of cold salads on hand, such as macaroni salad, potato salad, and cole slaw, for when the occasion calls. Along with crunchy alternatives such as chips and pretzels, I enjoy having a range of dips to complement them on a plate. A simple fruit and/or vegetable tray is another easy way to impress a large number of people. No question, your Big Game sub sandwich party will be extra spectacular thanks to Sara Lee® Premium Submarine Sauce.

Most importantly, you will not be spending hours in the kitchen preparing meals!.

Wishing you a successful game day!

The classic Italian Sub, the meatball Sub, or the delectableClub Sandwich are all great lunch options, and they’re quick and easy to prepare.

What’s On An Italian Sub?

It is possible to customize every sub using a selection of meats, cheeses, and vegetables. An Italian sandwich will have all of the Mediterranean meats, such as capicola or salami, among other things. Cheeses from Italy, such as provolone and mozzarella, are the ideal choices for this sandwich. Check out what’s available at your local deli counter; even better, if you have an Italian market nearby, you should check it out. Italian subs are designed to be packed high with ingredients and bursting with flavor, so don’t hold back!

The Best Bread To Use

It’s essential to have bread that can withstand the weight of all the meats and cheeses without crumbling. Everything from hoagie buns to sub rolls and even rich sourdough bread will keep all of that sammy deliciousness in tact.

How To Make an Italian Sub

Simply prepared, they may be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to three days. If you’re prepping ahead of time, make sure the vegetables are in the centre of the rolls so they don’t get soggy in the oven.

  1. Organize the rolls by splitting them apart and lightly toasting them if required. Spread mayonnaise or any other condiment of your choosing on top of the toast
  2. Stack it high: Stack meats, cheeses, and vegetables on top of one another (per recipe below). Dress with Italian vinaigrette
  3. Toss well. Cooking Instructions: Serve whole or chop into smaller pieces and arrange on a serving dish.

In order to achieve the finest results, assemble the Italian subs ahead of time and cover securely with plastic wrap so that the ingredients can blend in the refrigerator for an hour before serving.

Thinly sliced or roasted vegetables such as zucchini, mushrooms, onions, and eggplant sliced jalapenos, black olives, and feta cheese Pepperoncini, pickles, and banana peppers are all examples of condiments.

Condiments

Sandwiches for a Large Group

While I’m not a big fan of deli sandwiches in general (we can do SO much better here, people), there are occasions when practical limitations necessitate a delicious deli sandwich in particular. Example: You may have limited cooking, prepping, and heating facilities; limited cooks; or limited time on your hands. In some instances, this is not a terrible alternative to consider. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the lunch menu that follows:.

Lunch menu

  • Sandwich from the deli
  • Fruit (apple or orange) and a bag of chips (A bag of vegetables is a possibility, but it will require more time and preparation, and you’ll need a dip to go with it.) I’d stick to fruit if I had to choose)
  • Cookie

1 sandwich consists of

  • The amount of deli meat varies from 3 ounces to 5 ounces more generously. minimum 1 ounce (1 slice) of cheese, maximum 2 ounces (2 slices)
  • Bread, minimum 2 pieces Lettuce equals one-fifth of a head of lettuce.
  • 3 ounces minimum, up to 5 ounces if you’re feeling generous. minimum 1 ounce (1 slice) of cheese, maximum 2 ounces (2 slices)
  • Bread = 2 pieces One-fifth of a head of lettuce equals one lettuce leaf.

Hoagie Sandwiches

In the event that you have the luxury of 10 – 20 feet of counter space, I’ve discovered that the most efficient method of assembling the sandwiches is as follows:

  • One or more individuals should slice the tomatoes and onions and arrange them on a platter. Create rows of 2 slices of bread by smearing the slices in one of the rows with 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise as they are placing them (this will be the bottom of the sandwich) and leaving all of the slices in the other row plain (this will be the top of the sandwich) (these will be the top of the sandwich). When using a mayonnaise spreader or an offset spatula, this is the most straightforward method. It is recommended that a second person (or team) follows after the first team when placing the meat on each sandwich
  • It is recommended that another person (or team) follows after the’meat team,’ placing the cheese on each sandwich. A final person (or team) should follow behind the ‘cheese’ team and finish by adding the lettuce and other condiments before placing the top slice of bread on top of the sandwich
  • If you’re serving immediately. A last crew should be assigned to bag the sandwiches once the ‘lettuce’ team has finished bagging them. Your teams can be made up of one or more persons, based on the number of workers who are available and the number of sandwiches that are necessary. Following completion of the first batch, repeat the process until all sandwiches have been created.

Notes

The sandwiches can be constructed the day before the event, without the use of mustard, mayonnaise, tomatoes, or other condiments, but the morning of the event is considerably better. It is not necessary to assemble the SANDWICHES in advance using anything other than the meats and cheeses listed above. Preparing them ahead of time means purchasing single-serving packets of mustard and mayonnaise, as well as separate platters for the tomatoes, lettuce, and other condiment items to accompany them.

They should be kept on many racks to prevent the sandwiches from flattening out while being transported.

For example, a buffet area might be set up with one or more loaves of bread, a variety of lettuce and tomato salad with mustard and mayo, cheese, and sprouts could be provided.

It is not possible to freeze leftovers.

There are sandwiches available. After that, there’s the matter of sandwiches. The former are those slapped-together, dull stuff, like bread and meat with a little cheese thrown in for good measure, that fulfill their job well but aren’t very intriguing. However, the sandwiches are a very other story. There’s still bread, meat, and a little cheese, but there are also vegetables and strong tastes such as pesto, pepperoncini, and herbed mayo to complement it. Lunchtime becomes more fascinating because of these sandwiches.

Even simply thinking about them makes your mouth wet a little.

Variations

While I believe this is the tastiest Italian sub sandwich on the earth, there are several ways to customize it to fit your tastes and requirements. Change the meats: You may alter the combinations of Italian cold cuts to suit your tastes or to create a sandwich that looks like your favorite Subway or Jersey Mike’s sandwich. For example:

  • In order to make an Italian BMT, use sliced pepperoni. To make a Cold Cut Combo, combine bologna and ham. If you’re looking for a Jersey Shore favorite, try subcapicola for the salami. To make a Super Sub, substitute capicola for the salami and add prosciutto to the mix.

Avocado slices, cole slaw, other lettuce or spinach (sliced cucumbers, roasted vegetables), Dill Pickles (optional), and banana peppers (optional) can all be added to the salad as additional vegetables. Other condiments to experiment with include: For a little spice, try aHomemade Chipotle Mayonnaise, or simply keep it simple with thisFoolproof Homemade Mayonnaise if Herbed Mayonnaise isn’t your thing. You may also use a mustard or relish as an alternative to mayonnaise. Perhaps a spread of pesto, a sprinkle of Italian dressing, or a drizzle of Balsamic Salad Dressing would be appropriate.

Step-by-Step Instructions

These subs are quite simple to prepare. Creating more than one will make the procedure much easier, so lay them all out at the same time and prepare them in an assembly-line fashion if you’re making multiples.

  1. Slice the roll lengthwise, leaving a hinge on one side of the roll to serve as a hinge. Make a thin layer of mayonnaise on both sides of the roll. Two slices of provolone are placed on top of two slices of ham and four slices of salami
  2. The last layer is two slices of provolone. Make a layer of tomatoes on top of it. Then there’s an onion layer on top of that. Add a few handfuls of shredded lettuce to finish it off. Garnish with a few slices of pepperoncini and carefully fold the sandwich in half, being sure to retain the filling in the center. Serve immediately, or wrap tightly and place in the refrigerator until ready to serve.

Make-ahead Instructions

The roll should be sliced lengthwise, with one side remaining as a hinge. Spread the mayonnaise on both sides of the roll and fold it in half. To create a layering effect, start with two slices of provolone; then layer on two slices of ham and four pieces of salami. Place a layer of tomatoes on top of the cheeseburger. A coating of onion is then applied. Add a couple of handfuls of shredded lettuce to finish it off if desired. Prepare the sandwich by carefully folding it in half, keeping the contents inside.

FAQs

What is the composition of an Italian Sub? In an Italian Sub, the components are rather straightforward: sub or grinder bun, sliced provolone, sliced ham and salami, shredded lettuce, sliced tomatoes, sliced onion, pepperoncini, and sliced ham. Is it possible to freeze an Italian Sub? Although many of the above items freeze and thaw well, mayonnaise, lettuce, and tomatoes are not among the best options. A frozen Italian sub should be assembled with only the bread, meat, and cheese and then wrapped tightly in aluminum foil before putting it away in the freezer.

Refrigerate for a few hours before serving to allow the meat to thaw. Heat it in foil or toast it open faced before serving to remove any extra moisture from the bread before cutting it into slices. Then, if you’d like, you may top it with mayonnaise, salad dressing, lettuce, and tomatoes.

Recipe Costs

If you know how much it will cost you to create a dish, you can determine if it is the sort of recipe you want to cook often or if it is the type of recipe you want to keep for special occasions only. Let’s crunch some numbers and see how well this formula works out in the long term.

  • A sub bun costs $2.00, herbed mayo costs $0.26, provolone costs $2.66, ham costs $2.99, salami costs $1.57, tomato costs $0.60, onion costs $0.20, lettuce costs $1.50, and pepperoncini costs $0.50.

The components for this dish were purchased at a mid-range grocery shop at regular rates, resulting in a total cost of $12.28 for four sandwiches. This equates to $3.07 each sandwich on average! In terms of price, here’s what you’d expect to pay for identical sandwiches in the same neighborhood in a similar neighborhood:

  • Pre-made at the grocery store costs $6.99
  • Jersey Mike’s costs $7.95
  • Subway costs $7.19
  • And other restaurants cost more.

Save even more:

Everything you’ll discover on Good Cheap Eats is just that: delicious and reasonably priced. However, there are a few ways you may employ to make this dish more cost-effective:

  • Plan your meals around what’s on offer. Make sure you don’t decide to make this when the cold cuts are completely popped. Wait for sales to occur
  • Stock up on ingredients when they become available at a discount. For example, if I find a good deal on deli cold cuts, I will buy a large quantity of them. The same can be said for provolone cheese, which is the most expensive component on the list
  • Shop around for the best deal. When there isn’t a good offer going on elsewhere, I know that ALDI is the best location to get goods like cheese or cold meats. I keep track of prices so that I can figure out who is offering the best deal where
