I tried all 17 Panera Bread sandwiches, and ranked them from worst to best

Panera Bread is well-known for its sandwich selection. InsiderInsider is written by Andrew LaSane.

  • Panera Bread is a well-known fast-casual restaurant brand that is most recognized for its sandwiches. For this project, I sampled every sandwich offered at my local Panera, ranking them from worst to best. It was the bacon tomato grilled cheese that was my least favorite since the tastes weren’t really thrilling and there wasn’t nearly enough cheese in it. My favorite sandwich was the toasted steak and white cheddar sandwich, which had the right combination of ingredients. More articles may be found on the Insider homepage.

In brief, Panera Bread Company (often known as Panera for short) is a fast-casual restaurant business with more than 2,000 locations in the United States and Canada. The restaurant offers soups, salads, and bakery goods, but its sandwiches are its most well-known product. I’d never gone to a Panera Bread before, so what better way to get a feel for the brand than by ordering every sandwich and comparing them to see which one was the best? A total of 17 different sandwiches were available for purchase at the Panera closest to me at the time of writing.

Here’s a list of every Panera Bread sandwich, ranging from the worst to the finest.

Pricing and availability are based on a Panera Bread store in Brooklyn and are subject to change without notice.

Bacon tomato grilled cheese (toasted) — $7.59/half

Grilled cheese with bacon and tomatoes. Insider’s Andrew LaSane contributed reporting. Even though it’s difficult to make a bad grilled cheese sandwich, this wasn’t the most appealing option on the menu. Panera utilized American cheese and topped it with delectable-sounding bacon and tomato confit, but the components were not properly distributed throughout the sandwich. The cheese hardly registered on my taste senses, which was possibly due to the fact that there was so little of it in relation to the amount of bread served.

Bacon Turkey Bravo — $7.59/half

Bacon Turkey is a winner. Insider’s Andrew LaSane contributed reporting. This sandwich had the names of two different types of meat on it, but it didn’t taste anything like either of them. Turkey breast, Applewood-smoked bacon, smoked Gouda, emerald greens, tomatoes, and a trademark sauce with salt and pepper are among the items on the ingredient list for this dish. The coldness of this sandwich stood out more than any of its flavors, and I believe that more of the distinctive sauce and/or more bacon would have improved the dish.

Roasted turkey, apple, and cheddar sandwich — $7.99/half

Sandwich made with roasted turkey, apple, and cheddar cheese. Insider’s Andrew LaSane contributed reporting. It was served on cranberry bread and included roasted turkey, Vermont white cheddar, apple and cabbage slaw, arugula, mustard horseradish sauce, and mustard horseradish sauce. Unfortunately, the apple dominated all of the other components of the sandwich, particularly the turkey and cheese. Additionally, the sandwich was a tad messy to consume because the slaw kept falling out and I had to keep re-inserting it into the bread.

Roasted turkey and avocado BLT — $8.19/half

BLT with roasted turkey and avocado. Insider’s Andrew LaSane contributed reporting. The ingredients for this sandwich were turkey, bacon, greens, tomatoes, and mayonnaise. My first impression of the roasted turkey and avocado BLT was that it was only marginally superior to what I could prepare at home, with the exception of the avocado, which I never purchase.

That may come off as an insult, but I don’t intend it in that way – the flavor of home cooked food was delicious. Even though the sandwich wasn’t particularly horrible, it felt a little dull when compared to the other alternatives on the menu.

Turkey sandwich — $6.29/half

Sandwich made with turkey. According to Insider’s Andrew LaSane, this sandwich was overshadowed by the unique flavor of raw onion. Turkey wasn’t very memorable, and the other elements (greens, tomatoes, red onions, mayonnaise, and spicy brown mustard) just couldn’t match with the intense, layered vegetable flavor that was there.

Mediterranean veggie sandwich — $6.29/half

Sandwich made with vegetables from the Mediterranean region. Insider’s Andrew LaSane contributed reporting. The following alternative is ideal if you just want a small salad that does not require the use of a fork. This sandwich was packed with flavor thanks to the addition of sweet Peppadew piquant peppers, feta, cucumbers, greens, tomatoes, red onions, hummus, salt, and pepper. In the end, all of the hard work and numerous components were worth it. Although I would prefer this over a traditional salad, it was just average when compared to the majority of the other sandwiches I tried.

Heritage ham and Swiss sandwich — $6.29/half

Sandwich made with ham and Swiss cheese from the past. Insider’s Andrew LaSane reports. Panera brought together ham, Swiss cheese, greens, and a maple mustard sauce to create this respectable menu item. It was better than many of the turkey sandwiches I tested, but not quite good enough to take the top slot on the list.

Sierra turkey sandwich — $6.69/half

Sierra turkey sandwich with lettuce and tomato. The roasted turkey breast from Panera was at its finest in this sandwich, according to Insider’s Andrew LaSane. Aside from the emerald greens and red onions that accompanied it, the chipotle mayo was a delightful addition. This sandwich was meant to be served on a focaccia with Asiago cheese, however the bread was not available at the location where I was serving it. Fortunately, the baguette served as an excellent substitute.

Chipotle chicken avocado melt — $7.79/half

Chipotle chicken avocado melt with sour cream. Insider’s Andrew LaSane reports. I’m not a huge lover of avocado, but when it’s coupled with pulled chicken, smoked Gouda, cilantro, sweet Peppadew piquant peppers, and chipotle mayo, it’s not half bad at all. In the centre of the sandwich, the avocado provided a smooth texture that was both sweet and a touch spicy. The flavor of the chicken was greater than it was in some of the other sandwiches I tasted, but it was little overshadowed by the cheese and peppers on this sandwich.

Cuban sandwich (toasted) — $7.99/half

It’s a Cuban sandwich. Insider’s Andrew LaSane contributed reporting. There was one little but significant aspect of the Cuban sandwich that I did not enjoy, and that was the flavor of the sweet and spicy pickles on the side. Additionally, this sandwich had a delectable combination of ham and spicy mustard, as well as shredded pork and Swiss cheese; but, the pickles and lack of mustard did this sandwich no favors.

Steak and arugula sandwich — $8.19/half

Sandwich made with steak and arugula. Insider’s Andrew LaSane contributed reporting. This sandwich, according to Panera’s online menu, is constructed with beef, arugula, tomatoes, pickled onions, garlic and herb cream cheese spread, and mustard horseradish sauce.

This dish was delicious since the arugula was fresh and the acidic, somewhat sweet onions complemented the salty beef and focaccia. Unfortunately, the first few tastes were almost destroyed by the fact that the tomato slices were so chilly.

Tuna salad sandwich — $6.29/half

Tuna salad on a toasted bun. Insider’s Andrew LaSane reports. Tuna salad has a poor reputation, but it’s one of the more affordable options on the menu, so it’s worth giving it a shot. The typical suspects of greens, tomatoes, and red onions were there and did their best to counteract the strong flavor of the fish salad. I really enjoyed this moist and tasty sandwich, and the solid focaccia helped it to hold together very nicely while I was eating it.

Napa almond chicken salad sandwich — $6.69/half

Sandwich made with Napa almond chicken salad. Insider’s Andrew LaSane contributed reporting. The biggest issue I had with this dish was that the sliced bread simply wasn’t sturdy enough to support the ingredients, which included chicken, chopped celery, seedless grapes, almonds, a “special sauce,” greens, and tomatoes, among other things. The chicken salad itself had a spicy flavor and remained juicy. Much to my surprise, I would purchase this product again in the future.

Tuscan grilled chicken sandwich (toasted) — $7.99/half

Sandwich made with grilled chicken from Tuscany. Insider’s Andrew LaSane contributed reporting. This sandwich, which was made with chicken, mozzarella, Parmesan, arugula, tomato confit, and pesto mayo, was properly toasted and had a fantastic amount of taste. The smokey flavor of the tomatoes worked well with the juicy chicken, cheese, and fresh greens in this dish. It’s possible that a half (or entire) order of the Tuscan grilled chicken sandwich will be just what you’re looking for if you’re seeking for a lighter dinner that still tastes delicious.

Classic grilled cheese — $6.29/half

The classic grilled cheese sandwich. Insider’s Andrew LaSane contributed reporting. In this ridiculously basic sandwich, sliced American cheese was sandwiched between two slices of white bread. One slice of my bread was golden brown, while the other was still light in color, which led me to suspect it had only been half-toasted in the first place. But, despite this weird circumstance, I was able to savor this gooey classic without being distracted by it. When it comes to the fundamentals, you simply can’t go wrong.

Frontega chicken panini (toasted) — $7.59/half

Panini with frontega chicken. Insider’s Andrew LaSane contributed reporting. Smoked, pulled chicken is layered on focaccia with mozzarella, tomato sauce, red onions, chopped basil, and chipotle mayo for a flavorful and satisfying sandwich. It was a good basis for the succulent chicken, melted cheese, and basil, but I wish there had been a little bit more of each item in the dish. The Frontega chicken panini was one of my favorites, but it wasn’t quite fantastic enough to take home the top honors this time around.

This Turkey Bacon Bravo Copycat Recipe from Panera Bread is very delicious! Don’t ask me why, but turkey has been on my mind lately, perhaps since Thanksgiving is just around the horizon. Turkey and sandwiches (called sam-wiches, by the way.is it just me? • Hello there, carbohydrate addicts!
  • Remember that fantastic focaccia bread from yesterday’s post?
  • Yea.
  • Carboholics, we’re in a world of trouble.
  • grilled cheese (with tomato soup, of course), a breakfast sandwich composed of half an english muffin topped with turkey and fried egg, or a panini made of turkey, cheese, and apple are some of my favorite sandwiches to eat.
  • That is no longer the case!
  • Have any of you ever had this sandwich from Panera?

I used to eat at Panera on a regular basis and would order this sandwich, but instead of the tomato basil bread that they typically offer it on (which I found to be excessively acidic), I would use an asiago focaccia instead.

I was depressed about the prospect of never having this sandwich again, but suddenly, BAM!

It finally hit me!

Duhhh.

I started by creating a focaccia with parmesan and herbs.

Then there’s the preparation of the Panera unique sauce.

Combine all of the ingredients in a large mixing bowl and set aside in the refrigerator.

Wham, bang, thank you so much!

Crisp romaine lettuce, thinly sliced turkey, sliced tomatoes, smoked gouda, and a second piece of bread are placed on top.

And bacon, of course.

Despite the fact that I like bacon, the combination of fresh bread and smoked gouda is the actual star of this meal.

You’re looking for something amusing, aren’t you?

It’s most likely because everything was in my mouth.

This sandwich has a slight grit to it from the focaccia, but it is also juicy from the tomatoes, fresh from the lettuce, crisp from the bacon, and smokey from the turkey and gouda on the inside.

As for the rest of the ingredients, they offer just a touch of acidity and a spicy kick to balance things out.

I just finished eating the turkey bacon bravo sandwich for lunch, which was about 30 minutes ago, but I think I might need to make another one right now. No, not at all. I’m going to do my hardest. — Jennifer & Co. (equipment shown are affiliate links)
