Turkey Sandwich (Deli Style)

When it comes to turkey sandwiches, the choices are virtually limitless. Simple sandwiches made with simply turkey and cheese can be made, or they can be spiced up with a variety of delectable flavoring combinations. This dish should be saved to your Pinterest board or PrePearaccount so that you may be reminded of not just one method to use up the leftover deli turkey, but numerous ways all in one location.

Make It A Turkey Melt

This basic turkey sandwich may be transformed into a turkey melt if you want your sandwiches melty and toasty. Using a skillet or a griddle, just place the turkey and cook until it is thoroughly warmed through. Using a spatula, smear a little butter or mayonnaise on the exterior of each sandwich, then top with the turkey and cheese. Cook the sandwich until it is golden brown on both sides, or until the cheese has melted, about 5 minutes per side (as if making agrilled cheese). Remove the slice of bread from the pan that does not have cheese on to it and arrange your toppings on it.

Kick It Up A Notch With These 5 Fun Variations:

  1. Toast your bread and top it with some bacon for a Turkey Club. Divide your sandwich into four halves and place each part on top of the other. Using toothpicks, fasten the pieces together. Avocado on Turkey – Toss some sliced avocado or sprinkle some mashed avocado onto your turkey sandwich bread slices. To make a turkey-bacon avocado sandwich, add some bacon to the mix. Using 2 teaspoons of fresh pesto and 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise, spread the mayonnaise on the bread and serve. Turkey Pesto Sandwich Adding some sun-dried tomatoes can give your dish a taste boost. Turkey-Cranberry Sauce– Instead of mayo, use melted cream cheese to put on a liberal layer of cranberry sauce
  2. Serve immediately. Turkey Breakfast Sandwich– On a griddle, heat the turkey slices until they are hot and then melt the cheese on top. Place the turkey and cheese on top of the toast once it has been toasted. Cook or scramble an egg on a griddle and add it to your sandwich for a delicious finishing touch. Remove the lettuce and replace it with the tomato (and perhaps some avocado).

Turkey Sandwich Topping and Condiment Ideas:

  • Bacon, avocado, tomato, lettuce, pickles, banana peppers, sliced red onion, sliced cucumber, oil, red wine vinegar, and seasonings Pesto, brown or dijon mustard, cranberry sauce, fig jamapples (like this version, which, believe me, is DELICIOUS), and cranberries

Get Your Turkey From The Deli

Purchasing turkey from a deli is not significantly more expensive than purchasing it pre-packaged, and it tastes SO MUCH BETTER. You have complete control over the thickness of your slices (we prefer it sliced exceptionally thin) as well as the exact amount you want to serve. In most cases, you may also select from a wide range of taste options. There is absolutely nothing negative to say about this!

Ingredients for making turkey sandwiches

I’m going to give you a list of everything you “need” to create this sandwich, as well as some suggestions for how you may personalize it to your liking!

  • Bread is available in three varieties: white bread, whole wheat bread, and French bread. I’ve been using Rhodes WhiteBread on a regular basis since I don’t feel like going to the grocery store and because I always have loaves in the freezer when I do. In addition, it has the taste of handmade without the effort! Whole wheat bread is the best choice for a nutritious turkey sandwich. Colby jack, Monterey jack and cheddar cheeses are all excellent choices for turkey sandwiches. Provolone, gouda and mozzarella are all excellent choices. It is important that the cheese does not overshadow the other components. If you’re grilling it, it should be able to melt readily as well. Butter – The best butter is fresh, unsalted butter. If you like, you may substitute mayonnaise for the yogurt. We prefer to use leftover turkey breast (smoked turkey breast is our favorite), deli meat, or roasted turkey. When possible, finely sliced meat should be used since it is simpler to bite into without the sandwich breaking apart. Extras to choose from: cranberry sauce, apple, bacon, avocado, tomato, lettuce, sprouts, and mustard, among others.

On the prairie, there’s a little dairy. Pro Tip: Make careful to cut the bread into pieces that are no thicker than half an inch on both sides. They should be about an inch thick. If they are too thick, the bread will be golden brown on the surface but the insides will not have melted yet.

Other Turkey Sandwich Ideas

Preparation options include making a grilled cheese sandwich or toasting the bread. Turkey Sandwich with Cranberry Sauce – Before grilling the sandwich, spread the insides of the bread with cranberry sauce. Gouda cheese is a fantastic choice for this dish. Add sliced apples to the turkey apple sandwich for a delicious variation. Honeycrisp is a delicious fruit. You may even include cranberry sauce if you like. Turkey Salad Sandwich– To make a nutritious turkey sandwich, use my Greek Yogurt Chicken Salad Recipe, but substitute turkey for the chicken. Thanksgiving Turkey Sandwich– Toast the bread, then layer it with warm mashed potatoes, leftover turkey, and warm gravy, if desired.

Little Dairy on the Prairie is a professional video game. Make careful to add any items that would generally be served cold (lettuce, sprouts, etc.) after the sandwich has been cooked if you’re creating HOT sandwiches out of this recipe.

How to make a turkey sandwich

This is a dish that is both quick and simple to prepare. We rely on leftovers to get us through the week, and this recipe is a great illustration of how we make use of leftovers throughout the week. Of course, you could prepare this as a standard cold sandwich, but there’s nothing quite like a hot sandwich with gooey cheese!

Preheat skillet

Using a skillet, cook the ingredients over low-medium heat.

It’s critical to cook over a low heat so that the cheese melts on the inside while the outsides are golden in color. By increasing the temperature, you will experience a frigid center and scorched exterior. Believe me when I say that waiting for the perfect turkey melt is well worth it!

Build the sandwich

  1. Using a generous amount of butter, generously butter the outsides of the bread and set them butter side down in the skillet
  2. On the top of each piece of bread, place a slice of cheese

3.Place the sliced turkey on one side of the plate. Place bacon on the other side of the pan. Cook until the bottom is golden brown and the cheese is melted, about 10 to 15 minutes. 4.Insert any other sandwich suggestions here (tomatoes, pickles, avocado, lettuce, etc). 5.To assemble the sandwich, place two slices of bread together with the greased side out. 6.Remove from the skillet and let aside for approximately 1 minute to cool somewhat. Cut. Serve

We’ve clearly mastered the art of creating sandwiches at home, since if we search for a “turkey sandwich near me,” we’re not going to find anything at all! • On the top of each piece of bread, place a slice of cheese
  • Place the sliced turkey on one side of the plate. Add bacon to the other side of the pan. Allow to cook until the bottom is golden brown and the cheese is melted

If you’re one of those people, you’ll want to serve it with a matzo ball soup as an accompaniment. Not acquainted with the term? It is created with cracker meal-based dumplings that are floating in a transparent chicken broth. Matzo ball soup is a Jewish tradition. It’s ideal for the Reuben because not only do the dumplings help to balance out the richness of the sandwich, but the chicken broth also works well with the sandwich’s flavor profile.

13. Turkey Club and Butternut Squash Soup

A turkey club sandwich and a bowl of butternut squash soup make for the ideal Thanksgiving leftover dinner! As a reminder of autumnal flavors, this combination is very delicious. It also has a pleasing balance of flavors. This sweet, rich, and creamy soup does an excellent job of bringing out the best in the modest bird.

14. Grilled Ham and Cheese with Mac and Cheese

Cheese, cheese, and even more cheese! It’s a cheese fest! That is the underlying theme of this partnership. There is no such thing as an excessive amount of cheese! A grilled ham and cheese sandwich and a bowl of mac and cheese make for a mouth-watering combination.

15. Green Salad

What is it about green salad that I find so appealing? You may serve it as a side dish to practically any dinner since it is delicious, refreshing, and healthful. No matter what style of sandwich you’re putting up, a basic green salad can do wonders for bringing out the tastes of the other ingredients. To make the salad, feel free to add whichever ingredients and dressing you choose! Just remember that the key to creating the ideal meal is striking a balance between flavors and textures. What Bread is Best for Sandwiches?

For turkey sandwiches, aim for thick breads that will keep their shape when cut in half and will not become floppy or mushy when the sandwich is split in two. A rich crusty bakery bread is great, but it should be finely cut to ensure that it is not soggy. My favorite type of bread is a hearty whole grain loaf that has been toasted. Rye or pumpernickel breads are also delicious. Croissants split in half or toasted brioche bread slices cut in half are equally delicious, but more delicate.

How to Make a Turkey Sandwich

It’s important to use substantial bread when making turkey sandwiches since it will help to keep the stuffing from falling out when the sandwich is sliced in half. A rich crusty bakery bread is great, but it should be finely sliced to ensure that it is not soggy when served. It’s impossible for me to choose a favorite when it comes to whole grain bread. Rye and pumpernickel breads are also delicious options. Warm brioche bread slices and croissants sliced in half are equally delicious, but more delicate in texture.

  1. Turkey (or deli turkey, if preferred) should be sliced
  2. Toss the toast with the mayonnaise and cranberry sauce until well combined. Use only the flattest and most fragile section of the lettuce leaf, or shred the lettuce. Create your sandwich layers and then serve them

What to Put on a Turkey Sandwich

The sky is the limit for these individuals! A traditional turkey sandwich has only the bare minimum of lettuce and tomato. The following are some additional ideas for transforming your Thanksgiving leftovers into a series of mouthwatering dinners.

  • Heat up some slices of turkey on some bread, scatter some dressing on top of the pieces of turkey, then drizzle with gravy, as in this hot turkey sandwich. grilled turkey sandwich (on rye, pumpernickel, or your preferred bread) with deli ham, American cheese, and tomato
  • Plain grilled turkey sandwich Cook rye bread pieces that have been buttered on the exterior until they are golden crispy crunch and serve with turkey Reuben Panini (if you have one) to make a turkey Reuben Panini (if you don’t have one). My busy mother used to remark that one of the nicest things about Thanksgiving was all of the leftovers that could be turned into quick and delicious turkey meals. I agree. And who could blame her after spending the previous two days in the kitchen mashing, chopping, and grating? Now it’s your time to come up with your own unique take on the post-Thanksgiving sandwich tradition. Who knows what will happen? It’s possible that it will become as ingrained as the festival itself!

Fast and Easy Turkey Sandwich Recipe

One of my very first jobs was working at a little sandwich restaurant in Columbus, Indiana. It was a wonderful experience. When I was fifteen years old, I started working on Saturdays at The Big Cheese. I believe it was a crucial beginning for me, and it was a perfect match for me to be working with food. Food has always been a passion of mine, and I’ve mastered the art of making a fantastic sandwich. My fondness for cooking sandwiches has remained with me to this day. I don’t prepare a gourmet sandwich for every lunch, but every now and then I get a yearning for a really delicious sandwich, and by golly, I know how to make a very fantastic sandwich.

I really like how there are so many different layers and toppings.

It adds a lot of flavor to the dish, so don’t leave it out.

What bread is the best for sandwiches?

In the same way that most things are better when made with high-quality ingredients, this sandwich will be much better. My favorite sandwich bread isDave’s Killer Bread, which is sliced nice and thin, which I appreciate. If you have a garden tomato on hand, it will transform your sandwich completely.

What goes well with sandwiches?

Serve this with my simple cream of tomato soup on the side if you feel like you need a little more to go along with it! It’s a simple recipe that happens to be one of my favorites. And now you’ve got a supper that’s suited for a dinner party. This would be a great addition to your food plan for this week. Look closely at the photo. Can you see my Indiana cutting board in the background (it’s upside down.)? I’m head over heels in love with it! Here’s where you can find your state! This was a birthday present from a relative that I received last year, and it makes me happy.

You’ll most likely require one as well.

How many slices of turkey should I put on my sandwich?

I prefer to include a substantial quantity of turkey. It’s tasty, and it’s packed with protein. Per sandwich, I typically use 4-6 slices of turkey breast.
