With these 10 delectable selections, not only will your visitors have a lovely time spending time with you, but they will also be amazed by your excellent culinary skills!

1.Caramelized Onions

Either served on the side or placed on the sandwich, they’re going to taste fantastic. The sweetness and tenderness of the caramelized onions provide a delicious contrast to the umami taste of the sandwich. Furthermore, it is quite simple to prepare! Everything is prepared in 30 minutes if you sauté salted and thinly sliced onions in extra virgin olive oil over a low heat for 30 minutes.

2.Soup

Almost every soup works nicely with almost any type of sandwich. No idea why, but that is a truth nonetheless. In other words, whether you serve your French dip sandwich with a simple cauliflower soup or a hearty tomato soup, you can’t go wrong.

3.Salad

Because your main entrée is already really rich, you’ll want to serve it with something light to balance it out. What could be more appropriate for the situation than a beautiful, basic salad? It not only makes the sandwich more refreshing, but it also adds a wonderful tactile contrast to the soft sandwich. Make sure to include crunchy and chewy components such as sliced apples, cranberries, and pecans in whatever salad you’re making. Balsamic or dijon vinaigrette would be excellent dressing choices because of their pleasant, tangy flavors.

4.Potato Chips

Do you want yet another foolproof side dish that will work with any sandwich? Chips made with potatoes! You should not, however, merely rely on store-bought chips. Instead of store-bought potato chips, serve your buddies homemade potato chips to show them how much you care about them. Would you like to save this recipe? If you provide your your address here, we’ll send you the recipe right to your inbox! They’re actually fairly simple to put together. The only thing you need to remember is to cut them into thin, consistent slices before baking them.

One more expert tip: before you fried the potatoes, soak them for 30 minutes in salted cold water to prevent them from browning too quickly.

If you want chips that are seasoned with salt and vinegar, soak them in vinegar instead of water.

5.Sweet Potato Fries

They’re the adorable relatives of the preceding entry on our list, and they’re quite great as well. Sweet potato fries are a fantastic accompaniment to French dip sandwiches, both in terms of flavor and texture. Because they are sweet, they are able to cut through the richness of the beef dish. As an added bonus, they’re crunchy, which provides a wonderful contrast to the soft bread. Using an aspiralizer to produce shoestring sweet potato fries can add a new level of excitement to your meal preparations.

6.Coleslaw

Coleslaw is another another light vegetable side dish that pairs nicely with French dip sandwiches and other sandwiches. Considering that cabbage and carrots are known for their crunch, this meal provides a wonderful contrast in texture to the sandwich. However, instead of the traditional mayonnaise dressing, I recommend that you try something a bit different. Your sandwich needs a refreshing partner, and mayo isn’t going to help you out much with that.

Instead, toss your shredded vegetables in a sweet and spicy vinegar-based sauce to coat them. To prepare the dressing, combine the olive oil, apple cider vinegar, peach nectar, peppers, chilies, and spicy sauce in a large mixing bowl.

7.Onion Rings

French dip sandwiches, for example, work great with onion rings, which are another popular side dish to serve with nearly everything. To make things more interesting, you may add a dash of cayenne pepper to the onions instead of deep-frying them as is customary. As a result, your average side dish will be transformed into an outstanding snack! To prepare the batter, just combine the following ingredients: cinnamon, red chili flakes, paprika, cumin, and your favorite beer. Beers such as ale, lager, wheat beer, and stout are all excellent choices.

8.Roasted Veggies

You may consider serving your sandwich with a tray of roasted veggies if you’re searching for something wholesome to go along with your sandwich. It’s delectable, healthful, and simple to put together. Simply slice up your favorite veggies (carrots, potatoes, bell peppers, broccoli, cauliflower, and beets are some of my favorites) and place them on a baking pan to bake. Season them with salt and pepper after coating them with olive oil. Bake until the sugars are caramelized, then serve!

9.Dill Pickle

I’ve been serving up a variety of sweet and refreshing sides, and now it’s time for something sour. If you’re having a savory dinner, a dill pickle will bring some acidity to the table. Furthermore, it is crispy, which contrasts with the softness of the bread once again. While you can buy dill pickles at the supermarket, don’t be scared to experiment with making your own! Simple to make, just marinate some cucumbers and red onions in a vinegar and water combination for a few hours before serving.

10.Fruit Salad

Finally, I’d like to provide a lovely conclusion to this list of recommendations. For a refreshing palate cleanser, nothing beats a refreshing bowl of your favorite fruits to counteract the richness of your entrée. Choose whichever sweet fruits are in season and sprinkle them with honey, whipped cream, or Greek yogurt to make a delicious dessert! Mangoes and bananas in cream are two of my favorite desserts. It is, in my opinion, the perfect way to conclude any meal.

1. Say Cheese!

It should go without saying that cheese makes everything better. A decent piece or two of excellent cheese will make a significant difference to the flavor of your roast beef sandwich. We may argue that, after the meat, cheese is the second most significant element in a sandwich’s composition. American cheese is a popular choice, albeit it has lately come under fire due to the fact that it is composed primarily of water and salt, rather than cheese. Of course, we can’t hold it against you. In order to enhance the flavor of your sandwich, a thin coating of smooth yellow cheese is recommended.

2. The All-mighty BBQ Sauce

Obviously, cheese enhances the enjoyment of all foods. Roast beef sandwiches are much improved by the addition of one or two nice slices of cheese. It’s fair to say that, after the meat, cheese is the second most crucial component of your sandwich. American cheese is a popular choice, despite the fact that it has lately come under fire for being manufactured primarily of water and salt rather than true cheese. It’s impossible for us to be angry with. Adding a smooth coating of yellow cheese to your sandwich is a delicious way to finish it off.

Create a variety of taste profiles by mixing and matching.

3. Honey-Mustard Dressing, Not Just for Salads

Your sandwich will have a beautiful familiar sweet flavour from the honey and mustard sauce, along with a peppery kick from the mustard. We have to admit that they are a little bit inspired by the typical Subway restaurant dressing part of the salad bar, and they do get things right every now and again. While we’re at it, why not experiment with making your own dressing? Bee honey and your favorite mustard should be mixed in equal proportions. Even the blurry ones are perfectly acceptable. Blend until smooth, then pour over the well roasted meat to serve.

Those salad dressings are ready to move on from the salad station.

4. Grease ‘em up with Mayo

We couldn’t possibly leave this one out. Mayo! And, despite the fact that mayonnaise has been a sandwich companion for nearly as long as sandwiches have been around, you might be shocked to learn that many people choose out of using the smooth, egg-based spread when it comes to roast beef. Mayonnaise not only lubricates the bread, but it also serves to bind the sandwich together by functioning as a canvas for the addition of additional ingredients. A small spread of mayonnaise may go unnoticed, but it will give your meal that extra something that you didn’t realize it was missing until it is there.

The main ingredients in this Roast Beef Sandwich sandwich recipe are cheddar cheese and mayonnaise. If you want to see it in its full glory, go toEat This, Not That!

5. Butter Makes It Better

If you don’t care for mayonnaise, a spread of butter will serve the same purpose. It takes on the appearance of a blank sheet on which other elements might be expressed. Butter also evokes pleasant recollections of buttered bread, as well as the slightest, creamy sweetness that you desire when you’re feeling down. Butter is also fantastic for giving your bread a constant golden-brown tone with just the smallest touch of a heated griddle or griddle pan. Your sandwich will now be dressed to the nines, and your home will be filled with the intoxicating fragrance of melting butter.

6. The BLT combo

The discovery of the combination of bacon, lettuce, and tomato as a sandwich and burger topper was the most significant discovery in the history of sandwiches and hamburgers. The flavors and textures of these three culinary powerhouses are so recognizable and distinct that we might all agree that everything tastes better when they are present. What if you don’t eat bacon because it makes your roast beef sandwich too meaty? Remove it off your sandwich and replace it with a fresh lettuce leaf and a couple of juicy, ripe tomato slices instead.

Check out the Roast Beef BLT sandwich over at Taste of Home to determine whether it’s right for you.

7. Add Some Potato Chips, Really!

Make your sandwich even more filling by include a handful of potato chips. A bag of Lay’s potato chips will do the trick. The crunchiness and the saltiness definitely elevate your sandwich to a higher level of flavor and enjoyment. Perhaps you’ve done this before, but we’re willing to wager you weren’t more than nine years old at the time. Chips are also a grown-up business, so give it a shot. To avoid sogginess, remember to add your chips at the very end of the preparation process. Discover everything there is to know about using potato chips as a topping and another classic the way Quirk Books handles it.

8. Pickles, Because, Why Not?

When you think of things to add in a roast beef sandwich, what comes to mind? It’s impossible not to reach for these juicily tart and luscious tiny green monsters right away. And it’s all because they’re cheerful and upbeat. Add them to a roast beef sandwich, and the acidity of the brine amplifies the flavor of the meat, while the pickles themselves provide a great crisp crunch to complement the meat. If you want to achieve this effect, dill pickles are by far the most popular option; however, you may also use sweet or lime pickles, or even fragrant cinnamon pickles.

9. Go Fancy with Black Olives

An additional topping that we adapted from the Subway franchise’s menu. The addition of black olives will elevate your roast beef sandwich to the level of an intellectual meal, bringing it closer to restaurant standards. Black olives are just a gastronomic indulgence that is evocative of the nutritious Mediterranean diet. Aside from their bitterness and earthiness, black olives also have a delightful bitterness and earthiness that is difficult to replicate. Although they are contentious, we hope you give them a shot whether you love them or detest them.

In any case, you can’t dispute that they provide color to your roast beef sandwich, which makes it appear more appealing. In addition, appearances are important. With sliced olives and horseradish, this delicious Roast Beef Sandwich is a must-try. Get it atMezzetta right away!

10. A Tangy Kiss of Sauerkraut

The acidity of sauerkraut, like that of pickles, causes you to salivate, and your sandwich suddenly becomes more than just food; it has become a pure pleasure experience. In this case, the tanginess and freshness help to balance off the slightly dry roast beef and give your masterpiece a touch of the old world, when things are just a little bit simpler. To clarify, sauerkraut is finely chopped cabbage that has been fermented by lactic bacteria, which results in a slaw that is crisp and somewhat creamy.

11. Keep It Sweet with Caramelized Onions

Now we’re getting down to business, since you’ll have to do some additional frying on the side, because caramelized onions don’t just appear out of nowhere. They are well worth the effort because the sweetness, silkiness, and umami richness they bring to the table may elevate even the most average sandwich to the level of a blue-ribbon candidate. However, when onions are sautéed in a skillet, they are transformed into something very spectacular. To make your onions even more appetizing as they are cooking, try mixing in some BBQ sauce while they are cooking.

Susan from Girl in the Little Red Kitchen makes her Roast Beef and Caramelized Onion Sandwich appear to be simple, yet she does so with style.

12. Guacamole, a Game Changer

We may be going a little far with this one, but it really works. Avocado is now on style, and it appears that it will be around for a long time. Even though guacamole is just diced avocado mixed with finely chopped onions and tomatoes, along with a bit cilantro, jalapeño, and lime juice, the stuff is delicious on its own, and it will really stand out in your roast beef sandwich. The creaminess, the extra texture, the flavor and brightness, all of this will alter your perception of sandwiches for the rest of your life.

13. Alfalfa Sprouts to Keep It Light

And now for the healthiest of the three choices. Layer a foamy bunch of alfalfa sprouts on top of your roast beef sandwich to make it lighter, greener, and more airy overall. It’s difficult to match the texture; what a lovely crunchiness it has! The freshness and somewhat bitter tones that are released with each bite enhance every swallow. What’s more, it just feels right, doesn’t it? Toppings such as broccoli, soybean, and radish sprouts can be used interchangeably. Sprouts are also beneficial to your health because they are low in calories and high in a variety of minerals, vitamins, and even proteins.

Sweet onions come in a variety of colors: red, yellow, and white
  • Cooked, caramelized, or raw. Tomatoes are available in a variety of colors and textures, including fresh, cooked, and dried.

The variety of veggies that may be served alongside your sandwich is only limited by your imagination, and they can considerably improve its nutritious content.

Best Condiments for Roast Beef

A wide variety of options are available for adorning your roast beef sandwich when it comes to dressing it. Although placing horseradish or ketchup on roast beef is a common practice, you may make your sandwich more intriguing and unique by using more unusual and uncommon condiments. If you want to add salad dressing on your sandwich, classic mayonnaise is a good choice. Miracle Whip and other sandwich spreads are often made with sugar and high fructose corn syrup as the primary ingredients. Hummus, salsa, grainy mustard, and mashed avocado are all excellent alternatives to using mayonnaise as a basis.

According to the USDA, it will, on the other hand, boost the quantity of iron, vitamins A, C, and K, and other nutrients, while also improving the flavor of the dish.

Some Like It Hot

A hot-beef sandwich is a delicious and filling lunch, but it’s critical that the roast beef be thoroughly reheated before serving. The Food Safety and Inspection Service of the United States Department of Agriculture cautions about the dangers of incorrectly reheating leftovers and recommends that meat be warmed at 165 degrees Fahrenheit to eliminate germs that might cause food poisoning. You may make an open-faced sandwich by putting hot roast beef and gravy on sliced bread and topping it with it.

Finish it off with a slice of your favorite cheese.

However, any cheese of your choosing will enhance the creaminess of your sandwich while also increasing its calcium content.

Provolone, mozzarella, Swiss, and goat cheeses are all excellent alternatives when it comes to cheese.

Roll It Up

A nutritious sandwich made with sliced deli beef meat may be substituted for cooked leftover roast beef for a more substantial meal. Wrapping beef and a variety of veggies in flatbread, whole wheat or corn tortillas, or pita bread is a delicious and easy way to consume more vegetables every day. If you don’t want to use bread, you can wrap the roast beef deli meat in it to make a protein-packed, low-carb roll-up sandwich instead. One possibility is to layer a piece of deli roast beef with a slice of red pepper, an avocado, and a tomato to make a sandwich.

Roll the meat slice tightly in your hands.

Make a roll-up or a roast beef sandwich with your favorite veggie combinations by being creative.

With so many different ways to enjoy a roast beef sandwich, you can rest certain that it is a nutritious meal choice as long as you make the correct choices when it comes to the condiments you use.

Roast Beef Sandwich Recipe with Horseradish Cream

If you want something wonderful, this Roast Beef Sandwich Recipe with Horseradish Cream is it. From the thinly sliced roast beef to the roasted potatoes to the horseradish cream, everything about this sandwich is rich with flavor. I’m so guilty of constantly stating that the simpler the meal, and for the most part, I completely agree with that statement. However, then there’s this. [Read more.] about To be honest, when it comes to the art of the sandwich, I believe that the more ingredients, the better (at least in my opinion), and this sandwich does not disappoint.

When you’re in college or the day after Thanksgiving, turkey sandwiches on Wonder Bread with mayonnaise are OK, but when you’re ready to play grown-up, you’ll want a big old fat sandwich like this one, which is stuffed with delights and topped with a delicious horseradish cream sauce.

What Type of Bread to Use

The first thing to determine for this recipe is what kind of bread to use. This alone has the potential to go in a number of different directions, and there are really no negative options. My recommendation for a loaf of bread would be as follows:

  • Rustic Artisan Ciabatta
  • French
  • Sourdough
  • Kaisar
  • Croissant
  • Rustic Artisan Ciabatta

Because you’re peeking in on this, I’ll tell you that I went with a Kaiser roll, and it turned out perfectly.

What Kind of Meat to Use

The roast beef is the next item on the list. The only way to prepare a prime rib roast is to roast it yourself and finely slice it, but most of you aren’t going to do that, and I wasn’t either. Because the vast majority of you will not be doing so, simply ask your butcher or the guys up at the deli to slice up some roast beef that is a bit on the thicker side for this. The following brands are available for consideration:

  • Greenridge Farm
  • Boar’s Head
  • Deitz and Watson
  • Applegate
  • Greenridge Farm

Toppings

Now that the two primary components, bread and meat, have been determined, we must choose what will be used as toppings. Close your eyes and concentrate solely on the meat. Consider all of the fantastic things that beef pairs well with and what would make this an awesome meal! Potatoes, horseradish, balsamic vinegar, onions, and cream are just a few of the ingredients that come to mind. The next step is finding out how to include all of the ingredients that are often served as a sauce on top or as a vegetable on the side.

  • I used a mandolin slicer to thinly slice a bigrusset potato and a sweet potato, then doused them in olive oil, salt, and pepper before baking them on a sheet tray lined with parchment paper at 400° for 20 minutes, or until they are gently browned and done. You already know that potatoes go well with beef, and they will taste much better on this sandwich
  • Using the same mandolin, I sliced two shallots very thinly and placed them on a sheet tray lined with parchment paper. The next thing I did was slice two shallots very thinly on the same mandolin and set them on a sheet tray lined with parchment paper. I blended up some balsamic vinegar, sugar, and a small amount of olive oil in a dish and coated the shallots with the mixture before baking them for 25 minutes at 400° for caramelization. Beef with caramelized onions and a savory sauce! There’s no denying that you need to see what’s going on with this roast beef sandwich, or else you’ll be absolutely blindsided
  • This also gave me the opportunity to kill two birds with one stone when it came to the toppings. Remember how I mentioned that beef pairs nicely with balsamic and onions? Well, I simply matched them together

All of these toppings are completely optional and should only be utilized at the discretion of the user.

What Are Good Condiments to Use

Using any of these toppings is entirely up to you, and you should do it at your own leisure.

  • Mayonnaise, sour cream, cream cheese, freshly grated horseradish (yes, you may use prepared horseradish in a jar), chiffonade fresh basil, chopped chives, Parmesan cheese, sea salt and pepper, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, and dill pickle relish

Simply whisk together all of the delicious ingredients in a medium-sized mixing bowl, and you’re done. Smother it liberally over your favorite baked treat.

What Cheese Goes Best

It is possible to use sliced cheese instead of parmesan in the horseradish cream sauce, and while I did not use sliced cheese in this recipe, I did use parmesan in the horseradish cream sauce.

There are a variety of different cheeses that go well with roast beef, including:

How to Make It

In order to make the finest roast beef sandwich ever, you need to utilize ingredients that are subtle in flavor and that enhance the flavor of the roast beef, which is exactly what we did with all of the toppings on this sandwich.

  • 1, spread a layer of horseradish cream on the bottom of a toasted Kaiser bun
  • 2: toast a second kaiser bun and spread a layer of horseradish cream on that as well. After that, scatter some arugula leaves on top of the horseradish cream and mix well. 3: Fold over several pieces of the cut meat and arrange them on top of the arugula to serve. Four, evenly arrange roasted potatoes, sweet potatoes, balsamic onions, thinly sliced radishes, kale micro greens (optional), and then finely slice the top bun
  • Five, serve immediately

1, spread a layer of horseradish cream on the bottom of a toasted Kaiser bun; 2: toast a second kaiser bun and spread a layer of horseradish cream on that as well After that, scatter some arugula leaves on top of the horseradish cream and toss gently. 3. Fold several pieces of the sliced meat over the arugula and place them on top of the salad. 4:In an even layer, pile on roasted potatoes, sweet potatoes, balsamic onions, thinly sliced radishes, kale micro greens (optional), and then finely slice the top bun.

Recipe Chef Notes + Tips

Keeping and Freezing: Store the toppings, bread, horseradish cream spread, and buns in separate plastic wrap-lined containers in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. Unfortunately, the components in this recipe will not freeze well. This sauce is fantastic on a variety of other foods than sandwiches, so be sure to experiment with it on various types of sandwiches, such as those made with chicken, turkey, or ham. Every 6 to 7 minutes or so, I baste the onions with the balsamic mixture to help increase the taste and caramelize them a little bit more.

NOTES FROM THE CHEF:

  • Don’t allow the bread selection restrict your options or your ability to be creative. To make things easier, you can use whichever type of bread you choose. For the roast beef, I’m a major lover of anything that is natural, organic, and free of filler protein
  • However, I’m not a huge fan of anything that is high in fat. Make sure to save part of the roast prime rib for a roast beef sandwich whenever you cook it. This horseradish cream is fantastic on a variety of other foods besides roast beef sandwiches, so be sure to experiment with it on other sandwiches, such as those with chicken, turkey, or ham.

Deli Roast Beef Sandwiches

This roast beef sandwich in the manner of a deli will be a hit with everyone. The flavor combinations are the right balance of salty and sweet, with a slight bite in the middle. It was a neighborhood sandwich shop that gave me the idea for this sandwich because they served bacon jam with their beef sandwiches.

I felt that adding some horseradish cream (which, in my view, is a must with roast beef) and some blue cheese would help to balance out the tastes a bit more, even though I appreciated the sweet. Believe me when I say that this is a fantastic mix!

Roast Beef Sandwich Toppings

In terms of the toppings for this sandwich, I got a little creative, but nothing too out of the ordinary. When it comes to their sandwiches, some people like to keep the toppings basic. Here are some other suggestions for toppings for a roast beef sandwich that you might like:

  • Tomatoes, sliced red onion, banana peppers, pickles, and cucumber slices are among the ingredients.

Roast Beef Sandwich Sauce

The sauce for this recipe was made with a horseradish mayonnaise. The horseradish has a nice bite to it, which I enjoy. I prefer to create my own since it allows me to regulate the amount of heat. If you want it hot, like I do, feel free to double the horseradish in this recipe or simply omit the mayonnaise completely if you don’t want to use mayonnaise in the first place. The following are some more suggestions for sauces or condiments to use with your roast beef sandwich:

  • Horseradish, either creamed or plain
  • Bacon jam
  • Deli mustard
  • Russian dressing (or Thousand Island dressing)
  • Blue cheese dressing
  • Spicy Aoli mayo
  • Russian dressing (or Thousand Island dressing). Arby’s Sauce (which is INCREDIBLY delicious on piping hot roast beef sandwiches)

Bacon Jam

Horseradish, either creamed or plain; bacon jam; deli mustard; Russian dressing (or Thousand Island dressing); blue cheese dressing; spicy Aoli mayo; Russian dressing (or Thousand Island dressing) (This is very nice on HOT roast beef sandwiches.) Arby’s Sauce (this is REALLY fantastic on HOT roast beef sandwiches.
