A brief history of Penn Station
When Jeff Osterfeld chose to enter into the restaurant business just two years after graduating from Miami University, the result was the establishment of Penn Station in 1985. He wished to move on with the concepts of an East Coast submarine restaurant and demonstration cooking that had crossed his thoughts since graduating from high school. In 1983, he opened a restaurant called “Jeffrey’s Delicatessen,” which he named after his father. It was situated in the city of Dayton, Ohio. While owning this restaurant, Jeff gained an understanding of the ownership attitude and its significance in business.
The cheesesteak sandwich was one of the first main menu items offered at this establishment, and it quickly became a popular choice. The popularity of the restaurant developed far quicker than anticipated, and the first Penn Station restaurant, located in Cincinnati, opened its doors in 1985.
Growth and development
Penn Station has grown slowly but steadily throughout the years.
