The date is July 10, 2021. If you’re looking for some delicious ideas for things to serve with egg sandwiches, you’ve come to the perfect spot! You can transform a basic sandwich into something worthy of a dinner party, whether you’re putting together a midday snack for casual visitors, making a lighter evening meal for the family, or wanting to make an everyday staple worthy of a lunchtime snack for casual visitors. Throughout this section, we’ll walk you through some delicious options for side dishes, snacks, and accompaniments for egg salad sandwiches, fried egg sandwiches, and boiled egg sandwiches.

1. Potato chips

All you have to do for this one is open up a bag of potato chips and serve them in a bowl in the middle of the table! They add a satisfying crunch alongside a creamy sandwich, making them a really good choice if your preference is egg mayonnaise. Plain ready salted work so well here, though of course you can choose your favourite flavoured option if you prefer.

2. Crudités

A dish of freshly cooked vegetables sliced into batons is not only visually pleasing, but it is also extremely nutritious and has a high concentration of necessary vitamins and minerals. Cucumber, peppers, carrots, radishes, and cherry tomatoes are some of the best options for this section. If appearance is extremely important to you, place the dish on a bed of lettuce before serving. The fact that you can load crudités into a Tupperware box and carry them to work, school, or a picnic also makes them a convenient option for those who are constantly on the go.

You can get a selection pack at your local store if you don’t have much time to prepare yourself.

3. Crispy bacon rashers

When it comes to what to serve with egg sandwiches, if you’re a meat fan, you can’t go wrong with some crispy bacon rashers, which are a breakfast classic. It makes no difference whether you’re making egg mayo or egg salad; all you have to do is slice your bacon into bite-sized pieces and stuff them into your butty. Alternatively, you might put it on a side dish and let your guests assist themselves to the food. They’re salty, crunchy, and high in protein, and they can really elevate your snack to the next level.

4. Hot sauce

Hot sauce devotees are well aware that there is no food that it cannot enhance! Frank’s hot sauce is my particular favorite, but any spicy sauce will do to make your sandwich stand out from the crowd. You may even create your own if you so choose. This homemade spicy sauce recipe is ideal if you have an abundance of peppers on hand, and it also makes a great present for friends and family.

5. Fresh sliced tomatoes drizzled with balsamic

When tomatoes are in season, there isn’t much else that can compete with them in terms of flavor. Serve them alongside your egg sandwiches by slicing them thinly and sprinkling them with a little good quality balsamic vinegar before seasoning with sea salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.

6. Spam fritters

Many people in the north of England enjoy spam fritters, and while they are somewhat of an acquired taste for some, many others find them to be extremely delicious!

This recipe for Spam Fritters is one of my favorites since it features a great beer batter, mustard, and cheese, among other things. When you want to provide a variety of various side dishes and you anticipate that your visitors will be particularly hungry, these are an excellent option.

7. Crunchy green salad

Even a simple salad that is filled with a range of distinct flavors and textures may change an afternoon snack into a meal that will keep you satisfied until far after supper time. Remember that there are so many other options out there that are readily accessible at the supermarket or your local greengrocer. It’s easy to get stuck in a rut with salads and just add your regular combo of lettuce, cucumber, and tomato. Radish, spring onion, carrot, red cabbage, and celery are just a few of the vegetables to consider.

8. Fruit salad

Whether you have a sweet craving or not, a colorful fresh fruit salad is a delicious side dish to accompany egg sandwiches. Fruits such as grapes, citrus fruits, melon, and kiwi are all excellent choices for a fruit salad. Avoid using fruits and vegetables that are prone to turning brown quickly, such as apples and bananas, especially if you want to prepare your side dishes in advance. If desired, top with a hefty dollop of Greek-style natural yoghurt and a few sprigs of fresh mint, and serve immediately.

9. Cocktail sausages

The combination of sausage and egg is a marriage made in heaven! The typical breakfast combination of poached, scrambled, or fried eggs is commonly served with sausage, and there is no reason why you can’t create a small touch on this classic by serving your egg sandwiches with cocktail sausages. Add some honey and mustard dressing to a high-quality pork sausage and you’re good to go. Alternatively, you may chop the sausages into bite-size pieces and place them directly inside your sandwich.

Ingredients

This is a list of the fundamental items that you’ll need for an easy egg salad sandwich dish that’s quick and simple. As is often the case, the exact quantities as well as the entire cooking directions may be found in the printable recipe box at the bottom of the post (see below).

  • For a chunky egg salad rather than a mushy, pastelike consistency, hard-boiled eggs should be coarsely diced (not too finely chopped)
  • Mayonnaise is the emulsifier that binds the eggs together in the salad. Choose a high-quality mayonnaise, such as Duke’s brand, for your sandwich. In a modest quantity, yellow mustard gives the creamy dressing a splash of color and a kick of acidic flavor. Celery: adds a slight crunch to the salad by providing a crisp texture. If you don’t want to use this component, you can leave it out. Pickle relish (sweet and tangy): A sweet and tangy counterpoint to the creamy and savory salad. Flavoring agents: Kosher salt and pepper
  • A loaf of bread (or croissants or rolls) for assembling the sandwiches
  • Lettuce: to be used as a layering agent in the sandwiches. I prefer a lettuce that is soft and ruffled, such as red leaf or butter lettuce.

Egg Salad Sandwich

Egg salad sandwiches are a subject on which I have strong feelings. Normally, I’ll pass on a situation. For example, if I see one on a menu or in a deli, I will go for another sandwich instead. Egg salad has a tendency to be soggy, or it may have too much mayonnaise, sloppy bread (yuck), or a combination of all three. However, this does not have to be the case! Whenever I prepare egg salad sandwiches at home, I use heart emojis on every single one of them. I prefer to use garlic-rubbed bread that has been well-toasted.

In addition to crunchy celery and onion, a dab of wholegrain mustard, and the perfect amount of yogurt substituted for mayo give this sandwich a satisfying bite.

A Couple Egg Salad Tricks

When it comes to putting together an egg salad sandwich, there are a few strategies I like to use. Because the eggs are a soft component, I prefer to incorporate crunch and structure everywhere I can to provide contrast and interest. As a result, the celery and onions in this dish have a crunch to them. The texture and structure of good quality, exceptionally toasted slices of bread are enhanced. I prefer to place a few firm, fresh lettuce leaves between the thread and egg salad to prevent the bread from being soggy.

Invest in Good Eggs

If you’re cooking egg salad, you’ll want to utilize the best eggs you can find. It’s the ones with yolks that are rich and vibrant in color. Eggs from chickens raised on pasture. Because peeling truly fresh eggs might be difficult, I prefer to use nice eggs whenever possible; nonetheless, the eggs that have been in my refrigerator the longest are the ones that are used in this recipe. In order to make peeling easier.

Getting the Eggs Cooked Just Right

I’ve come to the realization that correctly boiling the egg accounts for 90% of the difficulty here. It is necessary to boil them in order for the cores to set while remaining wet. There’s also a danger of getting the awful grey ring around the yolk of many hard cooked eggs.

I have a method that I use religiously and it works wonderfully for me every time. Essentially, you want to prevent overcooking your food. After taking the eggs from the boiling water, place them in a dish of ice water for a few minutes to stop the cooking process completely.

Egg Salad Sandwich Variations

Once you’ve gotten your sandwich just how you want it, it’s enjoyable to experiment with other versions. Here are a couple of my favorites. The egg salad is served open-faced over toast with thinly sliced gruyere cheese on top. Toss with the egg salad mixture and sprinkle with fried shallots before broiling the whole thing. I was inspired by a variation of this dish that I used to enjoy on occasion at Il Cane Rosso in San Francisco. -Sandwich with Curried Egg Salad: This is very delicious! I think of it as a winterized version, because it includes curry spice, diced apple, roasted walnuts, and onion, among other things.

The Perfect Egg Salad Sandwich

Always choose high-quality eggs; nevertheless, bear in mind that the fresher the eggs are, the more difficult it is to peel them once they have been boiled.

  • 6 big eggs
  • 2 tablespoons Greek yogurt (or mayonnaise)
  • 1 tablespoon whole-grain mustard
  • 6 large eggs seasoning with salt and pepper
  • First, peel and chop celery stalks
  • Second, wash and chop carrots 1/4 cup finely chopped yellow onion 2 small handfuls of lettuce
  • 8 pieces of whole grain or sourdough bread, toasted
  • 2 cloves of garlic, peeled
  • A little squeeze of lemon juice
  1. Place the eggs in a pot and fill with cold water to a depth of approximately 1/2 inch. Bring the water to a moderate boil. Remove the pan from the heat, cover it, and set it aside for exactly 8 minutes. Prepare a large basin of cold water, and after the eggs are finished frying, place them in the ice bath for three minutes or so – just long enough to halt the cooking and cool the eggs. Remove the shells from each egg and set them in a medium mixing basin
  2. Combine the yogurt or mayonnaise, the mustard, a couple of liberal pinches of salt and pepper, the celery, onion, and lemon juice in a large mixing bowl until well combined. Using a fork, mash the potatoes. You don’t want the egg mixture to be absolutely smooth
  3. You want it to have some roughness. Continue to add a small amount of yogurt at a time, if necessary, to moisten the mixture a little more thoroughly. Taste the dish and adjust the seasoning, adding additional salt and pepper if necessary. Assemble each egg salad sandwich by rubbing the toasts with garlic, layering a little of lettuce on one piece of toast, topping with the egg salad mixture, and finishing by constructing a sandwich with the remaining piece of bread. Repeat the same with the remaining slices.

What to Serve with Egg Salad Sandwiches – 8 BEST Side Dishes

For breakfast foods that will give your visitors the impression that they are eating on a weekday, consider offering any of the following eight dishes:

1 – French Fries

French fries are a classic that never goes out of style, despite the fact that they are not the healthiest option. They’re also a great accompaniment to egg salad sandwiches, because to their crunchy and salty texture. Some individuals become sick of sweets after having a nutritious meal, which is understandable. This is why serving French fries is a fantastic idea. They’re incredibly adaptable and will give your visitors the impression that they’re enjoying a relaxed, laid-back day in the slow lane while at your event.

You may serve them with a variety of sauces, including ketchup, spicy mayonnaise, buffalo sauce, vinegar, and others. The list might go on forever. Serve them with egg salad sandwiches, though, if you want to get an idea of what’s already wonderful.

2 – Scrambled Eggs

If you want your guests to feel like they’re getting a special treat in the morning, scrambled eggs are probably the finest item to give them. There are no restrictions on the tastes and spices that may be used in scrambled eggs, and individuals should experiment with different combinations to find out which they prefer the most. A popular American condiment with a smoky flavor and salty sweetness is bacon jam, which may be spread over them before baking. Bacon jam is a delicious addition to breakfast sandwiches made with eggs.

If you want something more conventional, some basic scrambled eggs with salt and pepper would be in order.

Some visitors will like the simplicity of these scrambled eggs since they will be able to taste the flavor of the egg itself, despite the fact that they may appear to be very simple.

3 – Yogurt Parfaits with Fruit

Pouring yogurt into parfait glasses is an underappreciated culinary technique when it comes to putting together a morning buffet spread. Consider the fact that you have a variety of fruits in them, despite the fact that they appear to be fairly basic. In just one mouthful, there are so many different flavors and sensations to experience. Furthermore, it is nutritious due to the presence of fruit. This is ideal for folks who are watching their weight or who are trying to lose weight. Alternatively, if their egg salad sandwiches do not contain mayonnaise, they can dip the sandwich into a yogurt parfait to give it a sweet and creamy flavor.

4 – Caesar Salad

Cult classic Caesar salad is characterized by its acidic, creamy flavor. Because it contains a significant amount of cheese and dressing, it is quite caloric. With egg salad sandwiches, these side dishes are excellent since there are so many different flavors going on at the same time that it doesn’t matter if the sandwich is bland. The nicest aspect about this salad is that it can be used as a garnish on an egg salad sandwich, allowing you to build a tower of flavor. People may use a fork to eat it if they choose, or they can pick it up by the sandwich and gobble it down.

5 – Coleslaw

Coleslaw is a highly popular side dish that you most likely already have in your refrigerator at the back of the shelf. This can be served with egg salad sandwiches or any other type of sandwich. With the sandwiches, you may use it as a garnish, which will make them seem more finer and more tasty. People will have a better understanding of what they’re consuming before they even take a mouthful of it. Egg salad sandwiches may also be eaten with a fork, which is convenient for those who do not like to eat their egg salad sandwiches with their hands.

Dripping meals, such as runny eggs, might be a tad too messy at times. You could also make this coleslaw healthier by using fat-free sour cream and low-fat mayonnaise instead of the regular kind.

6 – Cheese Sticks

Cheese sticks are always a hit with the crowd. People are aware that they will be cheesy and full of taste, so there is no excuse for them not to try them at least once. When served as a garnish with the sandwiches, they will provide a delicious visual appeal to the dish. There’s also the matter of the fact that they go well with sandwiches. The combination of the creamy cheese filling and the flaky crust of the bread will be really delicious. People may eat these sandwiches with their hands in the same way that they would eat normal egg salad.

7 – Fruit Salad

Fruit salad is the most underappreciated side dish in the history of the world. When compared to a plain piece of bread, it may make your egg salad sandwich appear quite delicious since it will be colorful and fresh, whereas a plain piece of bread would not. People will most likely try an egg salad sandwich just for the fruit that is served on the side, rather than for the actual sandwich. By using some granola or yogurt in this fruit salad, you might make it more nutritious as well. People who are watching their weight will benefit from this since it will make the fruit salad even more filling.

8 – Grilled Cocktail Sausages

Who doesn’t like a delicious sausage on a Sunday brunch menu? Because the meal is so delectable, it will convey the impression that individuals are enjoying a pleasant and delightful experience. If you want to make the egg salad sandwiches appear finer and more tasty, you can also serve them as a garnish on top of them. Sausages grilled over an open flame are noted for their meaty flavor, which makes them an excellent match for egg salad sandwiches. It will provide individuals with a pleasant morning flavor in their lunch.

Your guests will be enticed to sample one of your egg salad sandwiches after hearing this.

Conclusion

  • Add a pinch of curry powder to taste. There is one more ingredient that will provide a distinctive zing to your basic egg salad, and that is a dash of yellow curry powder to finish it off. Because of the addition of curry powder, not only will your egg salad sandwich have a subtle spicy kick, but it will also have a bit more color. To mayo or not to mayo? That is the question. If you want to make an egg salad sandwich, you may substitute some ripe avocado for the mayonnaise
  • However, you’ll need to add some vinegar or lemon juice to the sandwich to make it acidic, and you’ll need to use more salt than you would anticipate. Personally, I like my egg salad sandwich with a generous quantity of mayonnaise on top of the egg salad. Having said that, the amount of mayonnaise used is entirely a matter of personal preference.

How Long to Boil Eggs for Egg Salad

Every time I cook hard boiled eggs, I utilize this approach to ensure excellent results.

They are cooked until the whites are soft and the middles are creamy yellow (without a grey ring). I bring them to a boil, then remove them from the heat and let them to settle for 15-17 minutes, covered (large eggs). Run one under cold water and peel it to make sure it’s perfectly shaped and sized.

How to Make Egg Salad

Are the eggs in your refrigerator fresh? To make the greatest egg salad dish, you must start with high-quality ingredients. Fresh eggs will cook more evenly and have a more vibrant appearance. In a bowl of water, a fresh egg will lay on its side on the bottom; if the egg is a bit older, it will still sink, but it will float on one end of the bowl. Do not consume eggs if they float on the surface of the water, as this indicates that they have gone bad. Please make sure that the onion and celery are finely diced so that the pieces are smaller than the egg bits.

To Make Egg Salad Sandwiches

Using a fork, mash the yolks and mayonnaise together until fully smooth, then fold in the whites. This recipe creates the best egg salad since it turns out so creamy! In order to chop the egg whites, I use an egg slicer. I place the white in the slicer, cut it, turn the egg, and then run it through the slicer again. Make the cutting process as short as possible! I also use my egg cutter for other items, such as strawberries and kiwi, and it’s particularly useful for slicing mushrooms for chicken marsala, which I prepare with it.

The Perfect Lunch

  1. Boil the eggs, let them to cool, and then peel them. Cut the eggs in halves and remove the yolks before chopping the whites. Egg yolks are mashed together with mayonnaise and mustard, as well as salt and pepper to taste. Combine the chopped egg whites with the green onion, celery, and freshly chopped dill in a large mixing bowl. Combine all of the ingredients in a blender and serve cold over bread, salad, or a wrap. Oh, and it’s a simple dish that can be customized to include any additional ingredients you choose if you are a vegetarian. I hope you enjoy it. Very well done!

I substituted pickles for the green onion and used Dijon mustard instead of the regular mustard.

It was served on a bun with lettuce, tomato, and a couple additional pickle planks on the side.

  • It turned out beautifully, and I devoured half of it before it could even be put in the fridge for lunch the next day.

I would classify it as a foundational dish.

This method works well – the eggs are perfectly done, there are no green borders, and they peeled very easy with no ripping!
