How to Make a Panini

Article in PDF format Article in PDF format Using a variety of inventive and original cooking ideas, you may create a delectable panini. Whether you’re having lunch or supper, this nutritious and simple meal will fill you up and delight your family and friends. Also, you may prepare a dessert panini to serve at the conclusion of the evening! Panini presses are available for purchase at many cookware stores, however they are not required. Make a superb panini sandwich in just a few minutes by following the instructions below.

Ingredients

  1. 1 Select your loaf of bread. You may make a panini out of any form of bread, including Italian bread, focaccia, sourdough, or any other kind of bread you prefer.
  • Slice your bread into 3/4-inch-thick slices if you’re using a roll of bread instead of a loaf. You may also cut your bread in half lengthwise
  • Just make sure the circular tops are turned in. Grilling round-topped bread, such as baguettes, can be difficult since it is difficult to prevent the bread from rolling over and dumping the contents of your panini on the grill. In order to resolve this issue, turn round-topped bread inside out so that the flat surfaces make touch with the grill surface.
  • Using a pastry brush, paint olive oil on the interior of your bread. Distribute a little amount of olive oil across the internal surface of your bread using a brush or a butter knife using a slight circular motion. Remember that you’re aiming for a thin coating here, so avoid slathering on too much olive oil on the bread.
  • Bread could get mushy if you use too much oil in the baking process.
  • s3 Toss in your cheese. Place one slice of cheese on each piece of bread, up against the olive oil, and toast until melted. It is beneficial to add a piece of cheese on either side of the sandwich so that it will hold together better when cooking.
  • You may also use grated cheese in this recipe. If you like, you can add the cheese on only one side of the sandwich.
  • 4 Finally, add your filling. When making your panini, you may be as creative as you like, using a combination of sliced meats or shredded meat, or you can build a vegetarian panini out of sliced zucchini and other vegetables. Make a sandwich out of one piece of bread and two slices of meat or zucchini.
  • If you like a thicker panini, you may increase the quantity of filling you use to make it.
  • 5 Toss in some more flavoring. Try adding some chopped onions or fresh cilantro to your dish. You may also season with salt and pepper, minced garlic, or a dash of your favorite spicy sauce before serving.
  • If you want to add veggies to your panini, such as lettuce, spinach, or tomatoes, wait until after it has been cooked before doing so. In this way, you can ensure that the veggies remain crisp and do not become soggy.
  • 6 Press the sandwich together and spread butter on the outside of the bread. It is important not to overload the interior of your panini with too much filling, otherwise the sandwich will not warm up correctly when it is cooked.
  1. 1 Preheat a panini press to 350 degrees (optional). Cooking your panini in a panini press is a straightforward and straightforward process. Simply place your sandwich into the container and close the top. Cook for approximately 3-5 minutes.
  • Continue cooking according to the manufacturer’s directions until the potatoes are golden brown and crisp
  • 2Preheat your skillet over medium heat. Heat the butter or oil in a pan over medium to low heat until the oil begins to shimmer or the butter melts, about 5 minutes. Don’t allow the butter to get brown. Without a panini press, your best bet is to use a grill pan, but if you don’t have one, you may make do with an ordinary frying pan if you don’t have one. 3 Place your sandwich on the grill pan that has been preheated. A separate cast iron pan should be heated on a different burner until it is hot. Despite the fact that you are not using a panini press, you will still require something to push down on your sandwich. This is when the cast iron pan comes into play again. Cast iron skillets are preferable to metal pans or skillets because they are more durable.
  • When handling your pan, exercise caution. Cast iron pans may become quite hot, so you may need to use an oven mitt to pick them up once they’ve been cooked.
  • 4 Make a press with your panini. Place your cast iron or metal pan right on top of your sandwich after it has been heated. The weight of the pan on top of your sandwich will have the same effect as using a panini press to press your sandwich together. Keep in mind that there are a variety of other options available to you besides a cast iron pan. Here are some more options you might consider:
  • For a press, use the lid of a pan. In order for this to work optimally, you should cook your panini for a few minutes on each side while pressing down on the lid. Make use of a pot. Put some pebbles in the bottom of a big spaghetti or soup pot and use that to press your panini
  • Otherwise, use a panini press. By covering a brick in aluminum foil and using it to push down your sandwich, you can create the ideal DIY panini press.
  1. 5Prepare your panini. Allow your panini to cook in this manner for approximately 3-5 minutes, or until the bottom piece of bread is golden brown and the cheese has melted
  2. 6Flip. Lift the cast iron pan away from the panini and use a spatula to turn the sandwich. Reassemble your panini by placing the cast iron pan back into it. Make sure the cheese is melted and the bottom is golden brown on both sides of the panini
  3. 7 Toss in the veggies. Take your panini out of the pan and delicately pull it open with your fingers. Place your lettuce, spinach, or any other vegetables you choose in the container. Adding the greens last will help them maintain their crispness
  4. 8 Using a straight-edged knife, cut your panini into slices. It is preferable to use a sharp, straight-edged knife rather than a serrated knife to achieve a clean separation of your final panini. Serving suggestions: Serve with a side of chips, a cup of soup, or a wonderful salad, and relish in the taste. Advertisement
  1. 1Experiment with different kinds of bread. You may use almost any sort of bread you like for this recipe. You can even make do with a bagel. A pretzel roll, pita bread, or even simple white bread can be found in a local bakery that is just opening. There are a plethora of alternatives
  2. 2 Make use of your imagination when it comes to cheese. Try a sharp cheddar or a spicy pepper jack for a change of pace. Make your own cheese gratin or use pre-sliced cheese to create a layering effect. Combine several types of cheese to create a more diverse flavor. You may use whatever type of cheese you choose.
  • Add some shaved Parmesan, manchego cheese, or soft goat cheese to your dish for a special touch.
  • 3Make it crispy by frying it in a skillet. To get a beautiful golden brown color, increase the cooking time by a few minutes. Allowing the bread to crisp up will result in a crispy panini on the outside that is mushy and squishy on the inside. 4 Add some veggies to the mix. Sliced tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, and mushrooms are all good options. Add these ingredients raw or grill them first, depending on your preference. You can even throw in a few basil leaves or some sliced bell pepper for good measure.
  • When adding “wet” substances, proceed with caution. It’s possible that they’ll make your sandwich soggy. If you are adding tomatoes, cucumbers, or anything else with a high water content, remove the seeds first
  • Otherwise, proceed as directed.
  • 5 Add some fruit. That’s correct, we’re talking about fruit! Slice some apple or pear for a sweet and refreshing spin on a meat or veggie sandwich
  • Try substituting grilled eggplant for the meat in a panini for a tasty vegetarian option.
  • 6 Go a little crazy with the filler options. You may use any leftover meat that you happen to have on hand. Add some shredded chicken or beef, or some crispy bacon, to finish it off. For a unique taste, try including chopped anchovies into the dish. Try roast beef, pastrami, or any other type of meat you want
  • Make certain that all of the meat you use in your panini is well cooked.
  • 7Spread some sauce on top of it. To make your sandwich more interesting, spread some pesto sauce on top or use your favorite spicy mustard. You may also use some fig jam to give it a little extra flavor. Alternatively, use BBQ sauce or spicy sauce
  • 8 Season with salt and pepper to taste. Adding a sprinkle of salt and pepper to your dish will never go wrong. However, you are not required to quit at that point. Try adding a pinch of garlic or onion salt to your dish. Try sprinkling a little of garlic salt on the outside of your bread before spreading it with butter.
  • Use ingredients moderately
  • If you use too much salt or garlic, your panini will be overpowered.
  1. 9Construct a panini for dessert. Make a sandwich out of white bread or cinnamon raisin bread, then cover the interior with hazelnut butter. Fill the interior of your sandwich with sliced bananas and marshmallows, and then sprinkle some chocolate syrup over the top. Cook until the outsides are golden brown and the marshmallows are completely melted, about 10 minutes total. Have a panini party with your friends! Invite a group of relatives and friends to come over and sample your most innovative panini creation. Get together with your friends and purchase a variety of breads and fillings to see who can build the most inventive and tasty panini. Advertisement

Nutrition information is generated using an ingredient database and should be regarded as an educated guess at this time. Using an apanini press to make the ideal grilled cheese sandwich is one of the quickest and most straightforward techniques available. The heat is uniformly distributed from both sides, the weight of the sandwich from the top of the grill pushes it precisely, and, most significantly, there is no need to turn it throughout the cooking process. In order to ensure that your grilled cheese sandwich does not break apart in the panini press, it’s crucial to follow a few simple guidelines.

This is a simple recipe that calls for bread, cheese, and butter or mayonnaise; however, you may customize the sandwich to your liking by adding other types of cheese and additional ingredients such as tomatoes and bacon.

  • 1/2 cup salted butter, melted (or mayonnaise)
  • 2 slices cheese
  • 2 slices bread
  1. Allow approximately 7 minutes for your panini press to get to temperature. When it comes to your press, examine the manufacturer’s instructions to see if it has a temperature range. Place the cheese between the two slices of bread and spread the exterior of the bread with either the butter or the mayonnaise to seal the sandwich together. Carefully lay the sandwich in the panini maker and push the lid down, gently enough so that the sandwich is not entirely smooshed, but hard enough so that both sides of the sandwich are in contact with the heated grates (see photo). Wait 5 to 7 minutes after placing the sandwich on the grill to ensure that the cheese has melted and the bread has crisped up. Removing the sandwich from the maker and allowing it to rest for a few minutes before serving will help the cheese to thicken and prevent it from oozing out when the sandwich is cut
  2. Enjoy

Tips

  • While you may use any type of bread for a grilled cheese panini, it’s important to make sure that the slices are thick enough to survive the pressure and heat of the panini press. Make sure you don’t overstuff your sandwich with cheese or other contents, otherwise the majority of the components will flow out of the sandwich and onto the grill. To remove the grilled cheese sandwich from the panini press, use a plastic spatula instead of a metal one since most panini presses have a nonstick coating that will be ruined if metal scratches it. As a substitute for butter or mayonnaise, you can leave off the butter or mayonnaise since the heat from the press will generate a crispy crust on the bread.

This toasted panini sandwich is made with crisp apple slices nestled between layers of shredded ham and gooey Swiss cheese in a soft and crunchy bread crust. A mayonnaise and mustard sauce is used to accentuate the creamy, tangy flavor of the chicken. Yep. This one’s a keeper, trust me.

5.Chocolate and Brie Panini

The greatest dessert paninis are a combination of sweet and savory flavors. This one blends dark, smokey chocolate with tangy, creamy brie for a delicious combination. It’s bizarre, but it’s also magnificent. Because after you bite into that soft sourdough and sweet, salty center, you’ll never look at chocolate (or paninis!) the same way again.

6.Cheesy Veggie Panini

This fresh panini is filled with vegetables and flavor, making it a satisfying and definitely crave-worthy lunch or dinner option. You may prepare it in advance for meatless Mondays, weekend brunches, or for those occasions when a vegetarian buddy shows up at your door ravenous. Everything from cheese to tomato to avocado to spinach is in there. Serve this dinner with a side salad to make it even more nutritious and delicious!

7.Mushroom and Goat Cheese Veggie Panini

Another vegetarian option, this mushroom and goat’s cheese panini will wow health-conscious diners and may even persuade a few carnivores to switch over. It’s crispy on the exterior and gooey, salty, and savory on the inside. It’s a delicious combination. This finger-licking snack, made with sourdough focaccia, is the ideal picnic meal or finger-licking snack.

8.Bacon and Eggs Breakfast Panini

A nutritious breakfast can make or break your entire day, so start your day off right with this tasty, protein-packed sandwich.

The combination of salty bacon, buttery scrambled eggs, and melting cheese will keep you going until lunchtime, when you can eat it all over again (kidding, kinda).

9.Italian Panini

This real Italian panini will require a substantial amount of stomach space. This dish, which is made with an entire loaf of Italian bread, is not for the faint of heart. Scoop out the bread by slicing the loaf in half lengthwise. Fill the hollowed-out halves with deli meat, cheese, and vegetables, and then grill them until done. You now have a decision to make: cut the cake into slices and share it with others, or consume the entire thing yourself.

10.Strawberry, Turkey, and Brie Grilled Cheese Sandwich

You’re undoubtedly already familiar with the traditional turkey, brie, and cranberry sandwich, but this delectable panini has other plans for your lunchtime. The substitution of sour cranberries with sweet strawberries is a game-changer in terms of gastronomy. Every mouthful is bright and juicy, and each one achieves the ideal combination of sweet and salty flavors.

11.Peanut Butter Banana Chocolate Chip Panini

This dish, while it is by far the most decadent panini on the list, is not nearly as sinful as you would imagine. It’s created with dark chocolate, which is high in antioxidants, and peanut butter, which is high in protein. Because there’s a banana in there, this is essentially breakfast food. Just make sure you chose your ingredients wisely. With the aid of whole grain bread, unsweetened nut butter, and cocoa-rich chocolate chips, you can reduce your sugar consumption while still enjoying the tempting taste.

12.Pesto Panini with Mozzarella and Tomato

There’s a reason why Italians are so fond of pesto. It is a flavorful paste made from fresh basil, parmesan, and pine nuts that may be used to enhance practically any dish. Using thick pieces of sourdough bread, pesto is spread on top of the sandwiches, which are then topped with thick slices of tomato and melted mozzarella. When you toast your vegetables until they are golden and crispy, you will be transported to vegetarian nirvana.

13.Prosciutto and Provolone Panini Sandwiches

Prosciutto is an Italian ham that is finely sliced and dry-cured. It’s typically used to provide salty depth and flavor to foods, and it works particularly well when mixed with pesto and provolone cheese. Furthermore, it is a delectable tongue-twister. Prosciutto, provolone, and pesto panini are difficult to say more than once. If you want to make it even more entertaining, try saying it while eating this scrumptious sandwich.

14.Vegetarian Apple Cheddar Panini Sandwich

Crisp apples and aged cheddar are a mealtime pairing made in culinary heaven! This panini recipe makes the most of the delicious, tangy combination. This simple yet delectable panini, made with cheese, apple, honey mustard, and bread, demonstrates that you don’t have to overthink your sandwiches. Sometimes the simplest solution is the best.

15.Apple Pie Panini

Pie and panini are on the menu. Keep my racing heart at bay (and grumbling tum). This intriguing dish, which includes honey-whipped mascarpone, delicious green apple slices, and brown sugar-crusted raisin toast, had me drooling. Is that a slice of pie? Is that a panini, or something else? Is it French toast, or something else? What does it matter? Just eat it.

16.Grilled Chicken Bacon Onion Panini

If you’re looking for a filling lunch that’s also nutritious, this panini is for you. It’s a restaurant-quality meal of perfection that you can make in the comfort of your own home.

Between two slices of soft sourdough bread, lean grilled chicken, salty bacon, caramelized onions, and a handful of fresh spinach leaves are squeezed and roasted until the chicken is cooked through. It’s the cause for the invention of lunch (maybe, but don’t take my word for it).

17.Pizza Panini

Do you have a soft spot for Italy? Pizza and panini are two of the most widely consumed delicacies in that nation, and you may demonstrate your profound admiration for it by mixing the two dishes. Not only is this delectable meal packed with taste, but it is also quick and easy to prepare. Why bother with pizza dough when you can simply split open a crusty loaf, sprinkle it with your favorite toppings, then cook it until it is melty and delicious? This recipe calls for piling mushrooms, ham, pepperoni, and bell peppers onto your panizza (see what I did there?) and baking it till golden brown.

This recipe may be made with any combination of ingredients (just make sure you don’t overlook the cheese).

18.Nutella Panini

If you have any little Nutella junkies in your house, they’ll go crazy for this kid-friendly snack that’s melty and messy in all the right ways. Are you concerned about the sugar dump? Fruit should be sneaked in. If you want to make this deliciously naughty sandwich with bananas, strawberries, and pears, go ahead!

19.Bruschetta Panini

Bruschetta is a traditional Italian appetizer that consists of crusty bread that has been topped with fresh tomatoes, mozzarella, and fresh basil. This panini, made with gooey, rich ingredients, is a far more interesting take on the classic grilled cheese than your typical grilled cheese sandwich. Combine it with soup or salad for a complete lunch, or serve it as an appetizer for your most upscale meals of the week. Recipes like this one are great for both family breakfasts and special events, and you’ll want to have them on hand.

20.Eggplant Panini With Pesto

Use up the last of your summer squashes by preparing this delectable eggplant panini. Eggplant is coated with olive oil and fried before being placed to a hearty sandwich that’s filled with pesto, mozzarella, and tomato in this dish. You will remember pleasant days, cool evenings, and wonderful moments when you eat this light meal that is vegetarian-friendly.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 4 ciabatta sandwich buns
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 cup basil pesto
  • 8 mozzarella cheese slices
  • 1 medium tomato, sliced into 8 thin slices and seasoned with 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon pepper

Steps

  • 1Heat a closed contact grill with a closed contact. Approximately 5 minutes
  • 2Cut each roll in half horizontally
  • Lightly spray the outside of each half with oil (optional). Pesto should be spread on the interior of both sides. Cheese and tomato should be layered between each sandwich. 3 Season with salt and pepper to taste. Sandwiches should be placed on the grill once it has been preheated. Close the grill and cook for 4 minutes, or until the bread is toasted and the cheese has melted. Sandwiches should be sliced on the diagonal and served warm.

Tips from the Betty Crocker Kitchens

  • 1. If you are unable to get ciabatta rolls for this pesto panini recipe, you may substitute 8 pieces of country bread or focaccia bread instead
  • Tip 2When using huge beefsteak tomatoes that are at the pinnacle of maturity, our tomato and mozzarella panini is extremely excellent. Use chopped cherry tomatoes in place of ripe tomatoes if ripe tomatoes are not readily available. They are more consistently tasty, regardless of the season
  • Tip 3Instead of using slices of fresh mozzarella in our panini recipe, fresh mozzarella may be used
  • Tip 4Cooking Vegetarian? Always check the labels to ensure that each recipe ingredient is vegetarian-friendly. Products and their ingredient sources are subject to change.

Ingredients

  • In a medium-sized mixing bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, vinegar, and garlic. Stir in the chicken and fennel until everything is thoroughly mixed. Spread the chicken mixture equally on the tops of four of the bread pieces, spreading it out to form an even layer on top of the bread. Arugula, pepper slices, and cheese are sprinkled over top. Add the remaining bread pieces on top. Nonstick cooking spray should be lightly sprayed over an unheated panini griddle, covered indoor electric grill, or big nonstick skillet before cooking the panini. Prepare the dish over medium heat, or according to the manufacturer’s recommendations. Griddle, grill, or cook in a pan with the prepared sandwiches, adding more in batches if required. Closing the lid of the pan or grill will toast the bread for 2 to 3 minutes, depending on how you are cooking it. A heavy saucepan or skillet should be placed on top of the sandwiches if they are made in a skillet. Cook for 1 to 2 minutes, or until the bottoms of the rolls are lightly browned. Carefully remove the saucepan or top skillet from the oven (it may be hot). Sandwiches are turned over, and the saucepan or skillet is placed on top once again. Cook for another 1 to 2 minutes, or until the bread is lightly toasted.)
  • Sandwiches should be cut in half and served warm.

Chicken Cordon Bleu Panini {My New Favorite Sandwich}

Panini with chicken cordon bleu on the side. Served with a secret (3-ingredient) incredibly easy sauce that will make you cry, this sandwich has all the tastes of chicken cordon bleu wrapped up in bread. YUM! Long-time readers will already be aware of my fondness for toasted sandwiches. They are one of the very few things that I genuinely desire in such a way that I feel compelled to satisfy the urge as quickly as possible. Always, always, always glance first at the sandwich area of a menu, and discovering a sandwich that truly impresses me is a cause for great excitement.

  • I’ve shared several truly excellent sandwiches over the years, but just a few have been singled out as favorites, such as this banh mi meatball sub (shown above) (oh my).
  • It’s precisely what it sounds like: a chicken cordon bleu sandwich, to be precise.
  • It’ll take you 15 minutes to put together.
  • To be honest, I’m already a big admirer of the c ordon bleu ingredient list, which includes Swiss cheese, chicken, and ham.
  • I was in desperate need of a sauce.

It’s a spread. A delectable combination that might enhance the flavor of sandwiches while also acting as a panini adhesive. It turned out that only three things were required to bring me to where I wanted to go. As a consequence, the chicken cordon bleu is very delicious.

Assembling the chicken cordon bleu sandwich

The key is to spread the special sauce on both sides of each slice of bread before sprinkling the outside pieces of bread with a little garlic and herb action.I’ve included some notes in the recipe for a homemade seasoning lineup, but if you don’t have any, you can simply use a pinch of salt and pepper.Don’t skip it! Sandwich Sprinkle from Penzey’s (which I get online – this is not a sponsored post; we just really like it) is our all-time favorite sandwich/garlic bread seasoning in the history of ever.

To Panini or not to Panini

As panini enthusiasts, we include them on our dinner menu at least once a month, if not more frequently. Our approach is typically something like this: take anything you can reach in the refrigerator and create your own panini masterpiece from there. So much so that I’ve already put up a spreadsheet with anerdy panini recipes (see! it already has a chicken cordon bleu sandwich on it, although it’s lot more boring than this version:)). It is possible to make this sandwich on the stovetop without using a panini press or on a griddle if you don’t have access to one.

  1. The sandwich can be cooked in the same manner as it would be grilled cheese-style and then turned halfway through, or it can be cooked in a heavy pan or cast iron skillet and pressed down while cooking to get the panini effect (you’ll still want to turn the sandwich midway through cooking).
  2. In addition to this ancient Cuisinart model, we also have this Breville model that has been in use for more than 5 years (see current model here).
  3. I adore both of them.
  4. I’m happy I cooked this sandwich in the privacy of my own house on a Tuesday afternoon at 12:13 p.m.
  5. I mean, I already talk to myself a lot throughout the course of a typical day.
  6. When I’m alone, though, I don’t tend to exclaim with a loud voice or pump my fists enthusiastically.
  7. The point is that this sandwich is really wonderful.

Not just fine, but excellent.

Everything about it is fantastic, and it’s something I could happily eat every day if I could.

It’s simply a silly game (please tell me you play it yourself from time to time?).

And that was one of my first thoughts after finishing this sandwich: it’s worthy of a restaurant and something I would absolutely serve if I operated a culinary outlet (or food truck).

Chicken Cordon Bleu Panini Sandwich

Yield:2sandwiches Preparation time: 15 minutes Cooking Time: 5 minutes Time allotted: 20 minutes

  • Yield:2sandwiches 15 minutes for preparation Approximately 5 minutes of preparation time 20 minutes in total
  • Using a small mixing bowl, thoroughly combine the cream cheese, Dijon mustard, and mayonnaise (or sour cream) until completely smooth
  • Distribute the sauce on both sides of the bread for each sandwich (I spread a light coating on the outside of the bread and a more generous dollop on the inside of both pieces). Toss the outside of each piece of bread with a pinch of salt and pepper or a garlic/herb seasoning blend, then arrange the pieces of bread seasoning side down on a baking sheet or cutting board. Repeat the process, starting with one slice of bread, followed by a slice of Swiss cheese, cooked chicken, two or three slices of deli ham, and one more slice of Swiss cheese. Place the other slice of bread on top (with seasonings on the outside) and press down. Preparing the sandwich in a panini press or on a hot griddle or skillet on the stove until golden brown and the cheese is melted is the best way to make it. In a skillet or griddle, flip the sandwich as needed to ensure that it is cooked through
  • You can also weigh the sandwich down with a heavy pan or skillet to achieve a panini-like appearance. Serve while still warm.

Bread: There are several possibilities for bread in this city. Make use of home-baked or store-bought French bread, sourdough loaf, whole grain bread, or anything you choose. I want a somewhat soft crust so that we don’t have to tear our jaws open while eating the sandwich. Chicken: a rotisserie chicken is an excellent choice for this recipe; alternatively, this stovetop cooked chicken is a convenient and quick option. In addition, I believe this would be excellent with fried, breaded chicken strips (maybe cut a little thinner).

In a pinch, salt and pepper can suffice, but if you had a garlic/herb spice combination that you would normally use for something like garlic bread, that would be fantastic.

A handmade version might consist of a little amount of each of the following ingredients crushed or mixed together: salt, pepper, garlic powder, oregano, basil.

I like seeing all of the deliciousness that you are creating in your kitchens!
